hey dep as an ex cop I have a question for you about say...spyder lights...lets say your rear lights are so bright the guy behind you is momentarily blinded and crashes into you...can he sue you?? who will get the ticket??

Most definitely he can sue you. And if the lights aren't DOT approved, you will also get a nice ticket too.

Looks like you had plenty of time for the forum.
Just a suggestion...but a new wifey ain't gonna put up with your computer addiction.
Who's counting?

I can't go out in the garage and install lights if I'm at work.
Just let it go, you can do it. I have faith in you.
Let's hope so.

Geez this is a tough one. I'm gonna have to consult with others about this dilemma. Turtle, TT, Yellow73SB, can I get an answer to this one?
Still pushing your luck??

Litevette, I'm glad someone noticed my attempt to lighten things up around here. I laughed out loud at your response. You are one crazy ****. As far as the skid marks, it must be too much tex-mex food around here. Maybe I should get a salad next time with my black bean soup and chili pie. Uhh, excuse me. I need to go to the bathroom. :o
I just got an email from the nice folks at SpiderLite, and their lights are currently being inspected and tested but the Department of Transportation. They are expected to pass and be DOT approved.

For any of my cars but the Vette I agree. The Vette doesn't get driven much compared to my other cars, and my night time driving is somewhat limited. My side pipes are illegal according to the Highway Patrol, and while I have been pulled over three times in my Corvette, they all just wanted to look at it and say how much they loved the pipes.

Just remember that when you post an item like these lights, if someone gets a ticket for them, the responsibility drops on YOU. You gotta check their legality before getting people all hot to buy them.

I don't see how that's true at all. I didn't force anyone to call or email them. I didn't force that person to give or send their credit card information to order them. I didn't force them to install the bulbs in the sockets and button everything up.
By showing what I bought and installed, how can that legally make me accountable?

Sounds like a tale to me.
Okay...but most adults take responsibility for their actions. You know dang well that you've cultivated a large group of admirers on here. They seem to think you are infalliable. We both know you aren't. If someone reads this thread and runs out and buys these lights based on what YOU did, then it's on YOU. The least you could have done was check into their legality. Are you legally responsible...NO. Morally...most definitely. It's called the right thing to do.

I don't think he's responsible to check the legality in all 50 states and other countries...if they're legal in Missouri. That's the responsibility of the buyer. I don't remember anywhere in this thread where Matt has made any statements regarding the legality of these lights, either pro or con.

You're right....he didn't bring up the legality of them...I did. And last I checked the DOT was a federal organization, not state. A simple disclaimer suggesting that folks check the law before spending the cash on them would have been nice. Oh well

Actually, I make it a point to never buy very light colored underwear. For some reason, the darker ones just seem to last longer!
