I am thinking about building a box for a pair of subs and some components to put in my '72, and was looking for some ideas. Any suggestions and pictures of what you guys have done would be great!!
I'm currently molding a set of boxes for 8" subs out of fiberglass that fit in the back corners and up over the wheel wells. Then the amp rack is mounted on the back wall and will mate up to the sub boxes. I can send you pics of the progress to date, it does take like 15 hours or more per box though by the time you lay the glass, stretch the polyester cloth over the formed shell and lay more glass etc.

I'd love to see those pics...I've been thinking of doing something similar, but with only one 8". I want to put a small storage compartment in the other side, and a set of components with 4" mids over the top of the wheel well. My sub only needs .31 ft3 of airspace.
I have a 10" in a store bought box in the back of my '77. Leaves enough room to store the t-tops on the other side. With tweeters in the kick panels and 6x9 in the dash it sounds pretty good.
I really need to take some pictures someday, because I also have the aftermarket stereo and the amp mounted to a board that fits nicely along the top back of the rear storage compartment. I didn't have to cut out the original radio and I use a remote so I don't have to turn around, except to load cd's...
My box takes up most of the back, enough room on top for the window only, t-tops are never on anyway. I run 2-10" bridged subs, the two mids and tweeters face forward, subs up. All are countersunk, the whole face comes off, gives it a smooth look. The amp and crossovers are mounted across the back and counter sunk also. She thumps pretty good...good luck..
the pix is kinda crappy,sorry..
I have a 12 inch kicker sub with 2 amps, a pair of 6x9s and a poineer deck. It takes up the entire back but looks cool i will take some pics tonight and post them up
Exactly why the reason we went with dual 8's. They allowed for storage and can still try to squeeze a rear window tray in. It won't be a factory tray but at least a "shelf" to store the window.

Ok, I turned the box sideways so the tallest part was against the wheelwell and I can fit the TTops in all the way over to the other side. I can't open the rear window tray with the TTops in there but that's ok if I need to I can take them out to get the tray down.
