Default Help, Identify this relay ?

This relay is located above the steering column mounted above the gauge cluster. It is longer than the other relays and has the markings "Philips 46128 7205". The relay stays "hot" as in temperature hot constantly. My battery goes dead if the car sits for more than a few days without being started. The interior is out and I want to get everything "fixed" before I re-install it all. The car is a '77 L48 (A/C, 4sp, no cruise control) THANKS

Looks like a turn signal or emergency flasher

No. It shouldn't stay hot. It is obviously shorted out and just burning up your battery power. Pull it and replace it. Maybe the warning buzzer will work again!

Prestige if you dont want to spend the $80 bucks then throw that silver relay away and then unplug the 2 little black plugs and plug the male into the female and you will have a non delayed interior light.

Im no expert, But that looks just like a seat belt chime. Try buckeling the seat belt and check for voltage.

Your right:o It is a 77 and that is one of the first int. light delay relays.I remember seeing one of those 20 years ago, they are not available anymore. To use the 78-82 you would have to add a wire from an ignition switched source.I think the cheaper 84-85 relay will work with an extra wire but I would just bypass for now.

Ok, From what you guys are telling me.... That relay is no longer available?? What do I do... How do I by-pass it and not burn the car to the ground? Also, If it is the seatbelt chime relay... My new seatbelts DO NOT have a wire on the female end. I bought an aftermarket set (have not installed them yet). I have the AIM, and a wire diagram, but can't find "what" this relay is....It just says "relay".

Ok here's what I found. You will see the relay marked 10 on this page.

I hope that helps, I think the light just comes on for a little while after you start the car.

Yes,that no.10 is the seatbelt light timer that comes on your center consul for fasten seatbelts .It does only come on for a few seconds.but it is all the way on the right side. yours looks like it's by the column.

Thanks for the help so far. Yes, I see that in the AIM it is located on the passenger side. Mine was right on top, in between the tach and speedo. Also, the AIM that I have from Corvette Central is a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy (you get the point) that looks like crap...... What will happen if I delete the realy? Will the seatbelt light be deleted?

That's the courtesy light timer, as clearly pointed out in the 77 Corvette Electrical Troubleshooting Manual. It's not a relay, buzzer or anything else of the sort...just a timer.

Mine's screwed up, I'm going to build an electronic replacement.

Just as an FYI, the seat belt buzzer is a square plastic box that plugs into the fuse panel.

It has nothing to do with the seatbelts-look at the color of the wires going to it.The white wires going to it are for the courtesy lights.Put the 2 white wires together coming from the body(not the ends from the timer)and you will be done.

Or buy less than $10 worth of parts from Radio Schmuck and build a replacement.

What do I do with the orange wire?
