Goodbye guys. Maybe....
Please allow your husband to keep his beautiful C3 when he gets the C5. He's a good man, good provider, good faithful husband and wonderful father. His only weakness is Corvette Fever, not drugs, not other women, and not gambling and drinking. He's been a good friend to his buddys here and we would hate to lose him. Every, and I mean every, former C3 owner I've ever talked to, regreted selling their beloved Corvette C3. So maybe not today, not tomorow, but soon, and every day for the rest of his life, he's going to regret selling his baby. Don't let him do it. Both of you will be happier in the end.
Love,
Bee Jay

The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
I love my C3 and I love my Z but the best is when the entire family (we have two daughters as well) joins in with both cars for a family cruise!
I understand what you're saying about the Z06 - they are stink fast but your 68 rocks and you've got some blood, sweat and tears in that baby...my advice, keep them both! It was a simple fiancial decision for us, we decided our kids didn't need to go to college! Best of luck in your search/decision!

I agree with you, C5 prices are dropping but not as hard/fast as the C4's did. IMHO this is because the C5's were a shorter production run, 8 years vice 13 years for the C4, and the C5 platform launched some great technological advances. Also factor in last of the pop up headlights, three body styles, return of the Z06, etc, etc - just a world class car! Not to hammer the C4s but the only one's I'd like to have are a GS or ZR1.

The near and long term prospects for Asset A appreciating are very good, so long as you tend to it, making it a sound investment. The near term pospects for appreciation of Asset B aren't quite as good, but in the long term will probably come around. So, divesting from Asset A to re-invest into Asset B poses the risk that you could adversely effect the growth of your future net worth.
Now, assuming you can truly afford both, keeping the '68 would leave a sound investment in place, and getting the C5 would add diversification to this part of your portfolio, not to mention the extra fun you'll have.
But, if you have to sell Asset A to obtain Asset B, do you believe that the additional enjoyment Asset B could bring will be a sufficient offset to the impact it will have down the road on your bottom line? If not, you may come to regreat getting rid of the '68 to make room for the C5.
Of course, you could always call one of them "hers". Hope you can swing it.
many around the 15K range and wait until the new C7 comes out. they are just used cars like any other with large production numbers, they will continue to drop. only ones that may hold value are possibly the ZO6 and other special models. good news for many becaue the C5 is a nice car
KEEP AND ENJOY THAT BEAUTIFUL CAR! _____________ _______ ___
now, where will your 68 be in 10 to 15 years? i hate to guess. i think that all C-3's are going to escalate sharply in the near future. they have reached the collectible point. they have gotten old enough now that people want to get them and hang on the them. we haven't reached 67 427 status by any stretch of the imagination, but, none the less we are going up.
now, where are you in all of this? right in the cat bird seat. the bumper cars are going to go silly. they are the only "real" muscle cars in the C-3 world. big horsepower , pre-emissions, pre-unleaded gas, 4-speed tire shredders. with great styling to boot.
from the financial/investment stand point i think you should keep what you have. but, if you want the Z06 i think you should sell the 68 and just go get it. you only live once.
never sell this car is a part of you of your life and you always be guilty for sell it
sorry i dont want be hard with you but is my opinion . await for better times and maybe you will have both your vert and your z06... and one last thing if you do things with your true voice of your heart you always go in the right way man. one salute
good luck in your decision
Ok guys here it is. I drove the ZO6 yesterday and it is a very nice, clean and well maintained car. Basically it's brand new at 9,000 miles. If you're looking for a late model ZO6, it's for sale in the C5 for sale forum. The price is extremely reasonable and I wrote the guy a check to hold the car for me until I could contact my credit union. Last night I had a long talk with a good friend of mine and he really opened my eyes on another way to go about it. It looks like I'll be waiting a couple of more years for a late model vette and then I'll get to keep everything else that I have. Plus the wife will be happy so everybody wins.
