It appears I may have to let go of the ole '68 vert. But, the good new is that it will be for a good cause. A 2003 C5 ZO6 w/ under 10k miles. The worst part is that I've only driven the '68 a couple of times since the restoration. Let me tell you that it is fun, but nothing compared to a C5. I shouldn't have any problem to at least break even on the C3 and I've learned a ton about all generation corvettes since I started this endeavour.
There's a slim - very slim chance I can convince the wife to let me have both. Be pulling for me!
Scott
I'd do what ever necessary if I were you to keep the '68 (they are sweeeet, yours especially) and buy the Z06, (they are awsome) maybe start with a dirty spoon . Peace,,,,Moosie
Big mistake!! The '68 looks so much cooler!! No offense but I get tired of going to vette shows seeing a C5... IMHO the only advantage to a C5 is ride comfort and braking...
It kills me to even think of letting go of the '68. My other plan is to sell my new truck and buy an older one instead (have to have something to tote the 2 kids around in). The problem there is that the truck is less than a year old and I would take a financial beating if I did that. It's probably smarter in the long run though. Oh well. Decisions decisions.
Anybody have a descent 3 or 4 door chevy truck they want to sell?

I don't understand Sperky. Keep the truck, keep the C-3, and wait for the C-5.

the main reason NOT to do it. that will be one you will regret forever , there will be many more deals on C5 Z06's, not so with your '68. just wait until you can keep both
My father-in-law has a C4 ('91) and my mother-in-law has a C5 ('01) and I just bought a C3 ('75). Yeah the ride is a little smoother in the C4 and C5, but I wouldn't trade my the C3 for either.
Keep in mind during the C3 generation people began to save/collect these cars. But that realization came at a cost, many cars didn't make it. By the time C4 generation hit the purchase to collect idea had set in.
My point being in 2, 5, or 10 years there will be more C5's available than C3's, so you can always find another C5. Plus you're attached to the C3 you've got, you'll never really be able to replace it.
You have a SWEET '68. You are the envy of the motoring neighborhood (unless some ***** has a Ferrari or something). Z06 is Awesome, too. But, in a few years, you'll be able to find the same or better deal. They are getting cheaper. You restored this car. Enjoy it for at least a season before you make the decision to bag it. Acceleration runds are great like in the Z06...but being adored? Priceless. JMHO. Good luck in your endeavors.
Dear Mrs. Sperkins.
Please allow your husband to keep his beautiful C3 when he gets the C5. He's a good man, good provider, good faithful husband and wonderful father. His only weakness is Corvette Fever, not drugs, not other women, and not gambling and drinking. He's been a good friend to his buddys here and we would hate to lose him. Every, and I mean every, former C3 owner I've ever talked to, regreted selling their beloved Corvette C3. So maybe not today, not tomorow, but soon, and every day for the rest of his life, he's going to regret selling his baby. Don't let him do it. Both of you will be happier in the end.

...sad thing is, years down the road when you want another '68(or early C3 roadster), it'll cost you three times as much to get one.
...had bought & owned many Chevelles/Camaros in the late '70's/ early '80's when I was in my late teens/early twenties and couldn't afford Corvettes. Now, I have four C3s and cannot afford a '69 Z/28 or '67 Chevelle SS 396 convertible. Well, not exactly true, if I wanted one that bad, I could get one, I just don't believe in spending that crazy money that they are now bringing, so I'll keep what I got.
