Check the frame for rust, especially the differential crossmember. Feel inside the frame with a finger to see if there is a lot of loose scale inside the frame. Scale = metal+rust that isn't part of the frame anymore. Even if the frame isn't rusted through if there is heavy scale buildup (1/8" thick chunks or more) the frame is going to be much weaker than it was originally. Take a pointed hammer like a body hammer with you and tap along the differential crossmember and trailing arm pocket area. If you hear anything other than a metallic ring (like a thud) look out. You will either tap through a hole or metal that will soon become a hole.
Frames for chrome bumper cars are expensive and getting more expensive every day.
