Finally got my L88 hood painted and installed about a week ago.
I haven't really decided which one I like better yet, what do you guys think.
A)
or
B)
Is it really a L88 ? That is the type of question that I always got when I had my 67 Big Block convertible. Is it a big block? Unfortunately Bubba had taken the 435 HP engine out and sold it. When I bought the car it had a 67 327 corvette engine in it but still had the original big block hood. Naturally I liked the big block hood so I left it on there. When I would drive the car anywhere, the question was asked. It gets old explaining after a while.
Guys,
They both look great, but I'm torn between two thoughts on the matter. The C3 is the only car I can think of where the fenders are actually HIGHER than the hood/bonnet, and a stock hood confirms this. And this fact really makes a C3 stand out in a car show or on the street, especially in Australia. You put a hood on that's taller than the fenders, and this effect is minimised.
However, I'd put one of those L88 hoods on in a heartbeat if I found that a taller manifold/spacer/carb/filter combo forced me to modify my standard '74 hood. DZRick, do you have the air valve in the back of that hood, or is it open to atmosphere? I like the idea of cowl induction and the '73/'74 standard air intake set up and presume it could be adapted to an L88 hood like you've got.
