Sorry, it happened so fast I didn't take pics. I had to tie knots in my strap legs to take up the slack. My center of gravity was right above the wiper well, with the strap legs at the #2 & 3 body mounts. Search for threads; I asked this same question a few months ago and members posted some excellent pics.
I couldn't figure out how to post pictures, so I added a body lift picture as my profile. If someone can fill me in on how to add pictures from a file as opposed to a web site, I can post more. Thanks.

I ran a strap inside by the rear of the door, a strap outside byfront of the door, and a strap for nose support.
I used a come-along ratchet to lift it, attached to a roller on an I-beam overhead.
When you lift and drop the body be extra cautious when the bottom of the rear quarter panels (left and right of the rear valence) clears the corners of the frame, it's a tight fit.
I would definitely be interested in more information on that contraption. I have to get mine back on one day and that could be interesting.
Funny looking thing isnt it
I built that funky looking thing a looong time ago.I needed something I could haul and manage setting up by myself.I used to go to shops and peoples houses that were doing body offs and remove and reinstall the body for them.I could put the lifting jig on top of my Suburban the wooden body dolly inside and tow the engine hoist behind."The only traveling Corvette body lifter I knew of.LOL" Its just 2" tubing welded together. There are 2 steel straps on each side that are shaped to the body and curl up under and lift on the metal birdcage.I use several nylon straps to support the nose and the tail depending on the condition of the body and whether its a vert or coupe.I could lift the body high enough in an 8' 2 car garage to get it off the frame and then set it down beside the frame.Scary looking Huh ?
This is the method I used to lift mine without the front clip. I used a portable truck crane with lots of lift and had to use extra chains running down to the rear deck spring area for extra support and for leveling.
Went down to Home Depot and got some 4x4's and had some 2x4's sitting around the garage. Picked up a come along at the auto parts store for half what Home Depot wanted.
It was easy enough to take the body off. I only had a problem with the mount behind the driver's door. The other 7 came out no problems.
Has anybody done this w/o a lift and straps? Lets say with maybe 8 or more guys?
I'm thinking of rounding up at least 10 guys minimum to do this because I want to leave the car as complete as possible and not damage the nice paint or body....safety in numbers.
I'm getting ready to buy a replacement frame and only have a small 16" x 24" shop to work out of.
I have to plan the frame swap pretty strategically and quick.....hopefully sitting it on the new frame and back in the shop in a weekend. I can deal with the mechanics of it once it's back in the shop.
Hi EM,
YES!!!! Be sure you count the shims in each location so you can get the same # in place when you set the body back on the chassis. It will help with door and hood alignment.
Regards,
Alan
Here's a picture that shows the #1 and #2 shim stacks taped in place as I was getting ready to put the body back on.
