Default Reflectix... Questions

After reading so many threads about Reflectix I decided to use it under my new carpet in my 71 coupe. I have a couple of questions though.

First do I need to glue it (3m Spray) to the carpet also, just in places, not at all?

Second has anyone used it under any of the other trim pieces? I am talking about the trim around the rear of the T-Tops and around the rear pillar posts.

Any suggestions or insight would be appreciated.

I also have a question on this stuff. Doesn't the bubble wrap eventually pop when used under carpet etc. It's not desinged to be used in areas subjected to pressure. I can see using it against the firewall where it is not subjected to any abuse, but I would think that eventually you would end up with basically two sheets of aluminum foil with plastic between them. Anyone have any long term experience with this stuff?

Your correct, it will wear in under the gas and brake pedals. But thats a pretty small area. I am layint down a layer of Nuprene and then the reflectix on top of that

Correct. Use the 3M spray on the floor, than the Reflectix. Do not use the 3M between the Reflectix and the carpet. Molded carpets don't need adhehive, except on the rear tire well area. I didn't use the Refletix on the halo because I couldn't see any possible benifits from wrapping this area. Besides, it would probably push the trim pieces out to far and mess up the fit and alignment.

Glue the Reflectix with 3M spray adhesive; don't glue the carpet. I ran the Reflectix back to [and including] the bulkhead behind the seats...but didn't do anything in the storage area. [Not much heat intake there.] I'm in Phoenix and haven't been disappointed with that approach.

You don't need jute along with the Reflectix; it will do the job and you won't have 3 layers of "stuff". And, I agree with doing the tunnel area. There is a lot of heat under there from tranny and pipes. Cover everything possible in the cockpit area: under radio, over tranny, etc.

I didn't even glue it. Laid it in, molded it, taped together seams with aluminum tape. it never moves, shifts, etc.

I also, never glued mine and it fits just fine. I ran mine way up under the dash. Up under the brake and gas pedal, and on the pass. side too.

I put it on the firewall before installing new AC. (AC is just sitting on a box here)

That's ok for the heat. Does it insulate any on the sound?

Has anyone put down the dynamat and reflectix together?

So.... you glue down the reflectix. Do you glue the dynamat to it or is it already adhesive backed?

dynamat has a sticky side no glue needed. I use 3M spray adhesive to glue the reflectix to the firewall. on the floor it is not necessary to glue the reflectix. I also used the aluminum foil duct tape to seal all the seams and joints to make it a continuous heat barrier

So....
How much Reflectix is needed to cover the interior?

Is it benificial to double the layer on the firewall?

Thanks

Lowes sells it by the roll. I still have 1/3 of my roll left over and yes, I did two layers on the firewall.
