This is one of those beyond words type of situations. Kind of like going to a wake and the only thing you can say is, "Sorry for your loss." At least no one is physicaly hurt, maybe mentaly and financialy and emotionaly but those are recoverable.
How old is your son? Not that age matters but give him a big hug and be grateful that he and you are still among the living.
Aw man, that's terrible Sorry to see that.
You two are okay and that's what's most important...
That's my worst fear about mine. I started carrying 2 fire extinguishers after a humongous gas leak in my gas tank last year.
HOLY CRAP! there's been alot of pictures like that lately but this one makes me nervous. i am going to buy a fire ext. tommorow and run a metal line from pump to carb this weekend
He said "Do you smell gas" really? apperently from the looks of the pictures the answer to that was "yes". ..... sorry for your loss, glad you both are Ok
Unbelievable. I am so sorry for your loss. Keep us in the loop regarding your plans, as the board seems to be a valuable resource for virtually anything.
Yes, i had that feeling, cold veins, eyes fixed on the next future, a wish to sleep for a month and suddenly a need to seat down on the very street and smoke a cigarette while looking around...i had this feelings when i badly crashed into a school bus (without children inside thanks god) 2 years ago riping off the whole front end and leaving pieces of my modded '77 around a big area of the highway...
So i know exactly what you felt when your accident happened...
Wow, sorry to hear about your loss, glad you and your son are OK.
I don't think a fire ext on board would've helped...I'm not sure a fire truck right beside you would've helped in this case...damn that poor car looks like an IED hit it...
Good luck with the insurance company - just think of all you learned doing this build that will help with with the next one!
****!!!!! That is bad.. I just went on a quick cruise yesterday and I forgot my extinguisher in my other car and I thought ah here we go my vettes going up in smoke. Turned around real quick and headed back.
My insurance is SafeCo. They called me this morning to notify me that it was a total loss and I would be contacted by their Total Loss Dept soon. We will see soon how it all pans out. I will certainly keep ya's apprised of how well they handle this.
My son is no longer a little rascal (he is 23 now) but it is all the same, no one was physically injured. But it was heartbreaking for us to stand there and watch it.
I "normally" do have a fire extinguisher in the car but had removed it a week ago when I went to a show. Maybe it would have helped, maybe not.
