I have this new stereo with a setting on it called a G-Analyzer and it will calculate things like speed and HP but needs to have some variables set. One of them is the weight of the car. What does a chrome bumper BigBlock convertible weight? 3600?
If base is 3140 (mine), then add 200 for engine and 200 for convertible. My bet is 3540. Gasoline is 6 lbs/gallon, so 20 gallons is 120. You should add the average, which is 60. That puts you at 3600... Then add your weight... Just drive the car on a scale...
200 lbs for a rag-top? I don't think there's much of anything extra for a convertible... A few braces under the dash is all. Actually I think the convertible weighs the same or even slightly less than a coupe.
I weighed my 71 454 back when it was stock and got 3520 lbs with me (160 lbs) in it.

I've seen charts. The extra braces under the car as well as the metal in the roof add some. I thought I was being conservative.
Thanks guys this at least gives me a good ball park range. I am not putting a lot of faith in this G-accelerator tool that my new Kenwood stereo has but it will be fun to play around with it a bit.
