Whew...I don't hink it would be all that hard to replicate what is seen in those pics. and it is in real bad shape.
One of the vette mags ran an article of the Bladwin cars a couple months ago and it was funny that one of the owners of a Baldwin car took his car to Joel “Mr. Motion” Rosen too. He couldn't remember building it. It took some research and brain picking for him to finally say that he did remember it.
I am not up on my Motion history, but with a car so rare as these, how can you forget that you made it?
The Motion Corvettes are rare and beautiful (well an aqquired taste). In any case there have or has been a really good motion project on ebay once before. This one has what I would call relativly standard, and simple body mods, not really in the motion category. The headlights have simply been glassed, a very common mod, and one that happened to many 68 cars. There are no "monza" style headlights at the corners. Also not motion are the standard taillights, always a mod are from the motion cars, and note the full glass in of the back corners. The rear window is not visible, but I do not see the Phase III motion window either. The rear suspension pic shows a definite big block car sway bar and caps on the halfshafts. The frame appears in some distress from rot. A project, but of a 69 427 car, so hopefully someone gets the car that wants to start a love affair with a difficult girl with some issues. Once done however a Riverside Gold 427/400 (maybe) car could be a stunner.....
Something about that ebay ad screams "I know for a fact this car is not genuine, but if I can make you think it MIGHT be genuine maybe you'll buy it, because if there was any remote possibility that it was genuine I wouldn't have put it on ebay for $2g".

That sums it up for sure. This one is for the guy with a gambling problem.(that loses a lot). That car is a complete TURD!
My kid did a paper mache project that looked better than that!!!
This car looks like more than I would want to touch, but for under 3k, I guess the parts would be worth it. I really love the way the ad spends the first paragraphs telling all about the mystery of motion corvettes.... This MIGHT be one of them, but it cannot be confirmed. BS They should have tried to pass it as the 3rd ZL-1. Then it would bring much more, knowing it might be the missing Zl-1, but , of course, this could not be confirmed.....
The pluses, Sloped back rear window (a long out of production Eckler's (?) item) and flip up gas cap.
The Minuses, Everything Else. Front and rear ends are modded, just not Motion mods, blue big block (marine or rattle can? Did anyone run the number?) And all of the above. /:\
If that car is a motion car then this is a tragedy. sold by someone who didnt care or didnt know what they had. or then again did know but bubba'd it beyond recognition. (eg. the guage that appears mounted in the ashtray)
then bought by bubba(2) who let it sit in the weather and prolly drove it in bad weather for How ever long.
IMHO there is not much left here to work with. but I would like the engine in my car.
be it Motion, modded 69 Vette, or just some attempt at a motion clone. this car is FUBARed
Rims are cool tho..
Hezzy
If he really thought it was genuine he would ante up the $10k or whatever and Joel Rosen would authenticate it. My understanding is that he has records on all the cars he did. If not, it's just another period mod project car with some interesting parts.

Actually, that IS the problem. When these were being built, there was no thought of them being "future collectables". Joel had a hefty parts business and even if all the parts came from LI (with the exception of the single headlight nose and unique hood, both missing BTW, you could get the pieces anywhere). There are alot of customs rotting in corn fields all over the country that have some of his (or his suppliers) parts on them.
That said, 4 or 5 of the Phase III Gt's remain unaccounted for. Could this be one of them? If it is, it's a long shot. As noted, the tailights were never stock. Might they have been changed out? Why would you if you were going to keep it a custom. Accident? Probably have to do the rear window too depending on the hit. In any event, a title search will reveal "Bubba" and his kin have owned this thing for some time. /:\
Designer Imagines A Corvette That Looks More Like a Corvette Than the Corvette
Slideshow: A Jaguar designer's personal project imagines what a modern front-engined Corvette might look like if Chevrolet revisited the golden age of the Stingray.
