Picked up some Rage Extreme and mixed up a batch of milkshake, brushed it on the arm rest and center dash. Missed the sanding in greenstage, would have made it a lot easier if I did, but it still sands better than the duraglass. Gave everything a pretty quick and light sanding with 40 grit. Added two layers of re-enforcement to the underside. Might mix up another batch of milkshake tomorrow and hit it with some 80 grit in hopes of filling the heavy scratchs the 40 grits put down...
I added some glass to strengthen some weak points and then got started on finishing the cup holders. The bottles I ordered from US Composites fit in the holders good so I used it as a template for the bottom. Looks pretty good I think. So far I got two coats of glass on the drivers side and just put the first layer down on the passenger side. Next step is to get the two pieces I have been working on flow into eachother, then the rest of the dash needs to be fabbed up....
while you are at it put an led in the bottom or side of the cup holder and run it to your interior lights. a clear water bottle looks really cool with an led under it. i was going to do this but decided not to have cup holders. nice work. keep the pics comming.

I have been neglecting the vette and her new interior pretty bad lately, but now that I see vettes crusin on the roads I got the itch and need to get the interior done a little more so I can start driving and going to some of the local car shows.......I have both cup holders done with 3 or 4 layers of glass on each. I taped the whole tranny tunnel with green painters tape, then sprayed the tape with contact adhesive and layed aluminum foil down over that, then I layed down two layers of chopmat. I don't have pics but I will try to get some tonight and get the tunnel mold trimmed up and looking somewhat pretty. After I get that done I will bond the center console down to the tunnel mold and bond the center section of the dash to the tunnel mold, this has a duel purpose, both to hide the edge of the carpet and to hold the dash in place. After that I need to get going on the left and right parts of the dash....

I still might put some in, I really wanted to have some cool lighting going on, but still be able to turn them off and look clean and classy.....
i am going to put all my leds on a separate switch or at least split them into groups. that way i can choose what areas to light and when. when doing your lighting, play with the locations and angles until you get the light you want without seeing the bulbs. leds are nice if not seen but if you can see the blub it can be blinding and mess up a nice effect. i cant wait to see more of your interior.
Got a few shots of the underside of the tranny mold I made. I made it by taping the whole tranny tunnel, carept and all, with painters tape, then spraying that with spray adhesive and laying down aluminum foil, then glassed to the foil, put down 2 layers and popped the mold out. I ripped alot of the foil off. Then I took the center console part I have been working with, positioned it, and glassed it to the tunnel mold. Next step is to smooth it all out and make it look like one piece, then trim some of the excess fiberglass and get a nice clean edge going....
Well, I f@#$ed up, didn't mix in nearly enough hardener into the Rage and it was still really soft 2 days later, so I scraped it out and mixed up a batch of duraglass and filled in the void, even sanded in the green stage and got it pretty smooth this time...
Jeez, I went to order some more duraglass & resin from USComposites, shipping was more than the products....should have some more progress early next week
Wow this is looking killer, I have been thinking about making a custom console but man this looks like a lot of work.
Thanks, and its really not as bad as it looks, fiberglass is pretty forgiving, if you make a mistake just cut out that section with a dremel and patch it up with some new glass.
