Default More Bubba

I came across a new Bubbification this morning!

My son replaced the center console pad on his '69 and the broken up one had sheet metal tabs made to hold the shifter plate. They held the tabs by using screws directly through the padding visible on both sides on the console.

While putting the sheet metal screws away, I noticed what had been used for washers against the console:

PENNIES!!!

Drilled out and painted black.....

If it was a 'real' Bubba, one of the pennies would be a 1909VBS [painted black with a hole in it].

Sully...

You know...that's what I like about this Forum. I can have CRS out the a$$, and you guys will pick up the slack and straighten me out NOW! Thanks for the correction. [I really did remember that is was an '09 S VDB after I re-read the thread...but knew someone would come to my rescue.]

well, when you think of it, aren't washers a couple of cents each? So maybe the penny isn't such a bad idea. You'd of course be out the labor it cost to drill them out though.

Yeah, but Bubba's labor isn't worth anything, so even if he drilled them by hand and it took six hours per penny, he's still ahead.

Sounds to me like Bubba got a drill press for Christmas and wanted to test it out.

You can always reuse those pennies if you still have the old screw-in type fuses in your house. Just remove the fuse that keeps blowing, put the penny in then screw the fuse back in.

(Just remember to remove it before the insurance adjuster comes to inspect the fire damage).
