I'm hoping that your recovery goes well. I know how difficult it is to cope with a condition that makes it difficult to do what you love. Also know that it's nice to be distracted during a recovery.
Here's a question for you: got a Holley 80508S that's a great carb., but has a bit of a stumble now and then in a tight turn. Here's the kink: it's a Fiero V-8 project that my son and I did and am wondering if mounting the carb sideways means some extra attention has to be made to anything in the carb. Don't need a response for months the way the weather is up here and don't want to bother you at all in this time or expect you to concern yourself at all...just a teaser if you need it to pass the time. I've got a thick file of your information and refer to it often in the shop. You also accumulated a 22 year old gearhead fan (my son) who's amazed at how much knowledge you have to share.

Get well soon, Darwin

Darwin -
I ran a 2.3 liter Pinto in SCCA Solo II competition, and I was running a Holley 390 4-bbl mounted sideways on an Offy intake. In tight turns, the car would flood. Turns out that the sideways-mounted carb pulling 1G in the turns would cause the fuel in the bowl to slosh out the vents and drop right down the venturies. The immediate fix was to run a rubber hose from the primary vent tube to the secondary vent tube with a small hole snipped at the top of the "loop." Permanent fix was to install "whistles" in each of the float bowls. Try the rubber hose out first and see if it solves the problem - if it does, you're on the right track.

Again, thanks for all the kind words from all of you - I very much appreciate the encouragement and support. Thank you.

Lars

Lars,
If you're surgeon is half as good with the human body as you are with cars and carbs then you'll be back to your 18 yr old self in no time. Get some rest and enjoy those simpler things in life for a bit. You'll definitely be missed around here while you're gone.
I should be in Denver next week (25th I believe). If I can stretch it more than an afternoon and you are off the drip and feel like a beer give me a shout. First couple of rounds are on me!
Take care,
Travis

Lars,
Sorry to hear about the need for surgery, it's a delicate area there. As others have said, I'll be thinking of you (It's now 4:07 p.m. Melbourne time March 17) tonight which is probably about the time when you'll go to the theatre. When I wake up tomorrow, it'll all be over and you'll be well on the way to recovery.

I'm looking forward to August next year when the Aussie contingent will once again hit your shores and I hope that we can catch up again for a beer and Margarita barbecue.

Remember: L egends A lways R ecover (from) S urgery.

Lars,

I attended a tuning event a few years ago near DC and I look forward to seeing you at another in the future. I'm sure you'll be back at 100% long before my car is! Here's hoping everything goes well tomorrow.
