I have a red 72 corvette convertible I got when my dad died. I hit a deer a couple weeks ago. It did very little damage... hardly enough to tell but enough for the insurance to fix it. While at the body shop I find that the original color is pewter silver so I'm going to have the car put to original color. So now I'm wondering... If there was 27,000 Corvettes made in 1972 and 6500 were convertibles and then only 1372 of the 27,000 were painted Pewter Silver.... Is there a way to find out how many covertibles were painted this color. I'm guessing only a couple hundered but is there a way to find out for sure.

At least two. And one of them has auto, air, ps, & hardtop.
Mine is painted red too. The original pewter would oxidize into a green ghost color. I'm sure they've corrected that by now though.
