On the back side of the tire is a stamped number with some letters then the last four numbers are the date. 0473 would be the fourth week of 1973. 1176 would be the 11th week of 1976 This stamp looks like a long stamp not raised writing.
This is a picture of my 1976 Vette. It came with Firestone 500 tires. As I recall, they were campaigned and replaced by white letter Firstone 721 tires. My wife had a 1975 or 74 Beauville van with well over 30,000miles on them. Those Firestone tires were replaced as well.
Sorry that the picture and/or scan wasn't sharper. The white lettering says "STEEL RADIAL 500".
Also, I had a neighbor with a 1977 Vette with those 500s. His son was killed when one of the tires failed. I recall it vividly because I mentioned to him only a couple weeks previous that he could get new tires from Firestone because of the campaign. I wish that I had been more forceful in my conversation.

What proof do you have that the 500's are the originals and not the other ones?
This is a photo of a company car my dad had in the spring of 1973. This photo was taken shortly after it was unloaded and prepped, not driven on the street yet. Fresh Firestone 500's.

If you look close in that picture after the word Firestone you can see the shield with the F in the center is white. Nice Picture
