Default Sly's 69......

Well....I know that Sly is getting anxious to see pics of his car,and more so....to get it done,so he can take the misses out in it,and enjoy. Was going to let Sly start a thread, and just add as it progresses, but after 3 delivery failure attempts........here we go....
I don't know the complete history on this car,but ther underside(frame, engine, etc.)is super nice. The body had alittle to be desired. At some point in the past...the car has been wrecked in the front, and had some pretty poor fiberglass repair done. The frontend was also, way, way low,and sagging, causing terrible door gaps.Thought that I was going to have to repop the frontend loose, and re-attach it,but loosened up everything up front, and put a floor jack under the front crossmember....getting everything to line up good.Still have to pull the dash to address some other stufff for him,and need to take a couple of the many shims out of the top of the LH door to pull the door in closer to the body. She will be fine tho.......
Not much to show in the pics yet,but she should be in primer next week.I have to get the L88 long hood mounted, and worked in to the top surround, and finish some small glass repair areas, but probably, not as fast as Sly would like, but I have several vettes here, and work alone.he will be driving it before he knows it......

here's how she came to me.....

v-ed out the factory bonding strips to glass in.....

Here she sits w/the bonding strips grounded down, and vett filler applied........

later today....will start working the bonding strip areas down, then attack the body.Alot of work here from someone w/grinder in the past, and alot of DA gouges,but......it's all in a days work.....

Sly is wanting to trade these seats for some black later C3 seats. They are very nice!Alittle dirty, but very nice, and will clean up fine.tracks are all solid!I have a post in the C3 parts section, but if any interest....please,pm me,or Sly.....

I'm sure Sly will jump in now,and I will add as I make progress....

It's coming along nicely. I'm sure Sly is going to love it when it's finished. I see You glassed in the holes from the rack on the the back of the car. I am doing the same on mine and have them all filled in except for the bottom middle two. I put 3 layers of mat behind the holes and then filled them form the top with mat and resin. I cannot get to the center two because the tank is blocking access to them from underneath. Do I have to drop the tank to do these two or is there a way from up top to do them?

That car has typical corvette-itis. A bit of work and she'll be very nice

It is amazing how much crappy previous body work is typicaly found on these cars when they are first stripped down.

Saturday evening sounds great! I'd like to devote the morning to getting the white vette road worthy again (put the holley on, the distributor back in and etc). I 'm hoping sunday will be nice so I can paint my exhaust covers.

I pulled the trigger on a 2008 Pont. Solstice color. It's a Slate/Grey mettallic.
I wish I could show it to you but I don't possess the skills. Oddly the code is SLY....maybe someone could find it and be kind enough to post a pic???

I think a mid to dark grey is a spectacular color that will compliment the red interior nicely. My interior is camel and I've been leaning toward grey or green paint when I move on to finishing the body and paint it. (still 2 years away)

this is a 2007 Solstice exterior paint code SLY

Whole car

Why so suprised...I told you I have a new pup....and I never seen so much sheet and pyzz come out of a animal so often in my life!
I think his bladder must be the same size as mine....that of a small raisin

Have you considered red? I had a real nice red picked out and bought before I changed my mind...the first time
I imagine camel is a shade of tan/beige...very nice with the later model Chrysler color, Inferno red. Check it out, and if you like it, I think Kevin has a gal for sale.

Thanks for the effort to post the pic and if that is the same color code it looks a bit darker in person.
