Default Top Radiator Hose Question

ON MY 72 BB a so called mechanic squeesed the top rad. hose and it is very soft. not hard like some with the wire inside, anyway he said i better change it before it blows. he said its probably original but i doubt it because it is in excellent condition. question is should i change it and if so where do i get one that looks original with GM markings on it, thanks, nutsy.

The top side hose is on the "pressure" side and doesn't have to be rigid to resist water pump suction [like the lower one does]. Tell him "Thank you, It's just fine."

but if its very soft then its time to replace. Just for peace of mind I would replace it, its cheap insurance. I purchased all my hoses right from the local NAPA store. Or you can order from a vette vendor.

Another good indicator of an old rad hose if it "bulges" at clamps...chances are,you need to replace it...

I also got my upper and lower hoses from DeWitts. They have the correct GM markings on them.

Though you can't see the entire hose, I got mine from Volunteer Vette Products.

I doubt any hose you get from NAPA will have a "GM" logo on it.
