Curtis74's new Vortec Engine

You guys going to have it ready for the Hooters' show? Don't think I'm going to make that one. There is another Outlaw show in June. Hope you guys can make it up for that.
BTW, got my tabs in the mail a couple days ago. I'm good to go. Woot!
Don't worry about it, I made that mistake a few times when I was a new member too. You start to catch it a lot easier.
Hopefully we'll be getting it started sometime today. We should both have some time to throw at it, and we'll post back with results. If it's raining, we'll just do the initial break in to seat the rings, and the first drive will have to wait until the weather breaks.
Technically this project has been in process for many months, from inception, to build, to swap. A few extra days is nothing.
This is very true, and you are correct. This being Mother's Day weekend, I have to devote my time to both the family located here and those from out of town.
Just so everyone knows, the engine was started Friday late morning. Curt switched on the IGN, energized the radiator fan and fuel pump relays, and hit the start button, while I manned the throttle and distributor.
The engine didn't even turn two full revolutions before roaring to life. It smoothly ran up and down from idle to 2500 RPMs. The sound was amazing, and considerably more throaty and lopey than before even through the same side pipes. This was the first GM roller I have built and started, and the difference was very apparent.
It revved soooo much smoother and seemed to crave more air and fuel like nothing I have built before. It really was quite exhilarating.
Alas, we didn't have much time. We decided to save the ring seat and timing for a day when we had more time. It fired right up, sounded amazing, and that is what we were looking for that day.
We're in no hurry, with all the rain and such, we wouldn't be able to drive it to properly break it in.
In order to clear things up again, the next posts on this will be in a new thread. It will be a brief overview of how things went from start of the build to the install, and the startup. I will ask politely, to the trolls and hecklers, to please refrain from posting unless it's constructive or positive. Being negative and poking for trouble will only get you reported, and ironically it won't even be by me.
Thanks everyone.

Good luck with the rest of the project.

No one claimed anything about caring about a reputation.
The carb needs to be tuned a bit better. I was with Curt when we bought a carb tuning kit. The plan was to do it this last weekend but I had to go out of town for a funeral. If Curt was doing a bit of unilateral research to learn more about the process then more power to him. I gave him the information on the jets I was wanting to change to and I wish I would have had the time to stay and do it but that wasn't possible.
Point being, the engine runs great and we're both really looking forward to getting it down to the Dyno for some runs and tuning.
As for the video, it ended up being 66MB and in trying to compress it I corrupted it and had to delete it. Once all this frig'n rain lets up we'll get more pics and video.

Lets see some smoke !
