Roadrace clone progress,update and pics
I'm going to drop the 540 and Richmond 5sp. in the chassis this week. Then I get to see what problems I'm going to have with the headers.
Once I get the headers all set I can finally fire up the motor.I always start my motors before the body go's on. Thats always a fun day. Hearing it run always gives me a boost to get the car done.
Now before anybody points out the real car is a roadster. I just perfer coupes. But other than that the paint and decals will look just like the real deal. The int. will be mostly stock. I do need to drive this thing
. I can't bring myself to paint the motor yellow. so it will be orange. Thats it for now. I'll post some more when the motor is all done and running.I'm hoping when this car is done I can meet up with Stan for some pics. His car will be done before mine so it may not be till the end of the summer.

A photo session of our cars together is going to be mandatory
I hope you have better luck with your headers than I did. I am working on my car non stop now and it is really stressing me out. The good weather is coming and I want to drive it. I am just about ready for primer at this point . I wish my car was ready for paint like yours.
Good luck with your motor start up. Your chassis and the body look great.

As you know the body is the easy part. The chassis, eng. and trans is the hard part. All that stuff takes time cause you just don't have everything you need at your finger tips. I'm going to have my painter do the bottom and eng. comp. this week end. Then I can get the firewall back together so the body drop can happen. I know our cars are going to look about the same. I was going to do something diff. but I just like the Corning car. I did not want everybody to think we copied each other. We just happen to like the same car. We talked about this when we met last year in PA.
I'v been watching your progress and all looks great. I wish I could be done as so as you will be but thats not going to happen.
We will have to get the cars together at some point.

My paint scheme is a combination of the Corning car(one of my favorites as well) and one of the Greder cars. It will have hints of the corning car and the red and white color but wont be like any Corning car at all. My cars are always a medley of sorts. I think our cars will look grear together but not alike for sure.
And I am certainly not worried about anybody thinking we copied each other
There is nothing wrong with two people having great taste!!!!!!

It really looks good though!
Amen to that.
I was never a big fan of C3's. I'm more a C2 guy. I have two midyears and a 60. But they don't have the pizzaz of a race car clone. So I do have a thing for vintage race Vettes nomatter what year. I sold both my Grand Sports and now miss them. I didn't want to build another one. Thats when I came up with the idea of building one like the Corning cars. I already had the car and alot of the parts when I met Stan. I got to see the real Corning car last year. The owner let me behind the ropes to take detailed pics. I told him what I was doing and he showed me a scrap book full of vintage pics.
Then on the way out of the fairgrounds I see Stans car and meet him. His car was very well done. We talked for awhile and have stayed in touch ever since. So I guess we do both have good taste. I can't wait to see these car together.
