I will pull out the old one tomorow and will detail the engine bay before dropping the new one in. Those ugly valve cover will be replace by my polish aluminium L82 cover.
I just don't know how i should pull the old one. The cherry picker in front or on the side. I will pull out the transmission as well.

Dennis, I pulled my over and out the side. I just straddled the driver side wheel on an angle with the picker. You have a fun project ahead of you, just wish I lived closer to give you a hand.

Dennis, I have an oil priming tool if you need one. I can shoot it in the mail to you in short order. I bought it from Summitt when I was installing my ZZ4.
Dennis,
You must have been a VERY good boy for Santa to bring you that NICE a present!!!! Good luck putting it in!!!!
Regards,
Alan
I did a lot of overtime just to buy this. Every penny a made from overtime went for that engine. All those long evening spend at work seems like nothing when i look at my new gift. To me, From me.
Congrats
I just fired up my GMPP crate motor for the first time today.
I could not use my cherry picker from the front. Extended out all the way, the boom wasn't long enough. I removed the left tire and went in from that side. It worked fine.
Very Nice! I have the long block versoin (less manifold, carb, filter, and exhaust) in my 1978 stepside. I'm running a tuned edelbrock 600, edelbrock performer manifold, k&n 4 inch filter, dynomax ceramic coated headers, and straight 2.5 inch duals out the back. It fries the tires with little effort. You'll like your new mill.

I will have the exact setup as you have.
Mine is the long block version as well(less manifold, carb, filter and exhaust).
I just put my new intake,600 carb, and air cleaner from edelbrock and my headers just to see what it would look like. And i'm running 2.5" true dual strait to the back.
Just so you know, that edelbrock carb doesn't run so good out of the box. Mine has different springs, main jet, and metering rods. As for the exact ones, a friend of mine tuned it (an old school drag racer and phenomenal car restoration expert) so i'm not sure exactly what is in it. If you like I could try to find out, mine runs sweet now. Smokey burn-outs are the best!
