C3's as far as I see are all stingrays. They ended the same way they started with no emblem. They all have that state of the art Vacuum electric motor system developed by NASA. It being called a shark or a stingray who cares their all family. So drive the thing to your hearts desire because life to short. Oh yeah when I leave this world i have instructions to have my stingray emblems fasten to my cherry wood box, if you know what i mean.

Majority of the people who will look at the car, except for some Corvette folk who get hung up on such things, are not gonna know. It's their car, do what they want with it and don't give a hoot about what anyone else thinks. Others don't like it, too bad!

On the flip side, the OP did ask for opinions and got them which each is entitled to. But bottom line, do what YOU WANT.

I have 63 Emblems FI on the side of mine, I have a 76 "Corvette" rear emblem, 62 Fuel Injection emblems on the hood. I did it my way.

Dude, I saw your car in Corvette Enthusiast, and that is what gave me the idea! That is one sweet car! When I get the aftermarket fuel injection, eventually, I will definately be putting some sort of FI emblem on it, and that got me to thinking.....

It's your car do it. All C3s are basically the same thing. Some have chrome, some don't and some have bubble windows. If this was a real issue with the vette Gods, they would have changed body styles and designated it a C4.

I wonder.........If they continued making the C6 but took the name corvette off of it and left the car with no name stamped anywhere, would these people say it was no longer a corvette?

It's still a c3. I consider all of them stingrays. In later years they were called a shark.

Why are you asking for opinions? It is your car, do what you like. You have to like it, who care what other people think. The last time I checked this was a free country.

Good Grief man, if your making the payments on the car do whatever you want. Put a Ferrari badge on the nose...if you want.

Be prepared to catch some grief from the "Corvette Police" who feel it is their mission in life to make stupid comments and insert themselves into your business, which are basically none of their concern.....

and.........

If you ever want a real Stingray that everyone will agree is a Stingray, go buy one.

Do what you want. I just personally don't think it really looks that good. The script doesn't really match anything else on the car, like the style of the other emblems, but to each their own.

^^^ What? ^^^

this is silly.

Put the emblems on the car. Hell, if you want, do the purist thing, read about the minor issue of cost cutting on the C3 then, put em on if it makes you feel better. To say a 76 is somehow "more" of a corvette than an 78 is flippin' comical

btw... put them on the car!

Now, if you had a 427 emblem on there, that would be crossing the line. But, there really is no such thing as a "Stingray." Some C3's had this emblem and some didn't. There is NO MECHANICAL, VISUAL, AESTHETIC upgrade or enhancement. GM themselves said it was "SIMPLY AN EMBLEM."

But, if some Corvette Cop is compelled to give you grief because you put them on your car, ask him why a certain year corvette has a G.D. Vega steering wheel in it?

I have taken my Vette to numerous Corvette events, HPDE, dyno days, shows & cruises. Never...EVER once did anybody come up and tell me that the 80 shouldn't have a "Stingray" badge on it.
I would politely have to pull my boot out of his a$$ for starters, then, I would ask them if they would "feel" better if I detuned my engine, put the single exhaust back on, took off my headers, cam, intake & carb, take my Tremec 5 speed out and install the crappy 305 cubic inch turd the car came from good gawd GM almighty who can't do any wrong up in car heaven!!!!

Using this logic, he should just use a Sting Ray emblem from a '66. That will look nice. It's just an emblem, ya know. No such thing as a Sting Ray.

I imagine the Corvette Cop might say, "GM put a Vega style steering wheel in a Corvette in 1976, that's why it's there." Not sure what that has to do with putting an incorrect emblem on a wrong year car. But as they say, whatever you like, kid. Sure looks out of place, though.

By the way, just because nobody comes up to you and says something doesn't mean half the Corvette owners at the event aren't thinking it.

Yeah, I think the OP should go ahead and stick them on there. Maybe a couple of C4 Corvette emblems too. It'll give us Corvette Cops something to chuckle over.

I never said a 76 was more a Corvette then a 78. I said it was more a Stingray.

I'm not a purist but I'd have to agree. I would NOT install the emblems but I do believe it is your car and if that would make you happy then by all means...

If the '80 style has the humps and curves, then put it on. Who cares really? It's not like it's a '53, or a '63, or a '69, etc.
