Default Earliest known 71 LT1?

Just curious,so here's one for you more than I computer savy guys.I am not a member of the NCRS site, but the other registery for the 71s......I have the earliest LT that I see......vin194371S100293.A war bonnet yellow car w/standard black interior. It's a A18 build date,so very early August 1970.Kinda cool.Too bad this car is a hooptie, but a very solid hooptie.
Any insight would be appreciated.Thanks.....

Since the option was already avalible and "in production" I wouldn't count on that Vette being the 1st production LT-1 of the 71 model year. But for someone planning a "frame off" resto of a Vette and investing $35-45K that car could be brought back to life

I don't believe it is the "first".Not at all.It is the first one that I found on the 71 Corvette registery. This car will be gone in a couple days hopefully,so I was just curious.I was just wondering about the numbers. It's the 293rd 71 vette.Just a early LT.To me....it doesn't make it any more valuable.I just want this old boy from KY to come get her.......

Hi VDB,
Drew Papsun, in Norwalk Connecticut, has developed extensive lists of known LT-1 cars and owners. I'm sure he'd like to know about the one you're working on and could help you identify the earliest known car.
Regards,
Alan

Thanks Alan.I will contact him.I am not working on this car.I got it for a debt owed, and I really need this car to sale.It is very rough, but the frame, and birdcage are excellant,so I hate to part it for what it is.
I honestly don't believe that I have the earliest 71 LT car.I was goofing around on the computer, and went to the registery, and my #293was the earliest that I saw,and thought that it was kinda cool, and interesting.I own a shop, and mostly only do vettes, but not above trying to educate myself. That's all that I was after really. The car is already forsale, and priced,so whether it is the first,or the middle....the price is already there.
I will say this tho.......if it was the first 71 LT1,and how solid the frame is......I may keep the car.I have a nice GM front clip, and my friend has a whole rear clip cut from the doors back.Put itout back w/the other rainy day cars.
Is this Drew guy a forum member? Thanks again Alan.

I don't know, bud. You would have to ask someone w/waaaaaaay more insight than I.I looked on the registery, and they had a LT section that started w/the earliest..."registered"....on THAT site.
Good luck w/your quest grasshopper.....

I just found 2 more....earlier than this hooptie here.#162,and #214.I found a base engine coupe built on A18 as mine, but around 35+ cars before the one here.

Hi VDB,
I know about Drew through the NCRS. He'd really be pleased to hear from you since you may have an LT-1 car that he hasn't recorded yet.
Regards,
Alan

Everything you need to know about "hooptie"

In the mean time don't be so quick to part this bad boy out Kevin. There must be someone out there that wants to put this LT1 back together.
