My side louvers are in bad shape all around. My plan is to have them rechromed, painted with the car and then trim off the paint for the chrome edges the car should have. Good tips in the thread titled "Egg Crate Side Louver-RESTORATION"...does my proposed method sound like the best; anything better?

My painter tired to mask off the edges but that turned out like crap.
He had to strip the paint off and repaint them. Then he trimmed off the paint from the edges. It came out pretty good.

I've found that if you start to 'trim' the paint off the chromed edges as soon as the paint is set but still soft, it comes off in long 'strings' and the blade, if VERY SHARP, leaves a very nice clean edge between the paint and chrome.

Alan

Before you go to the trouble of all the rechroming($$$$$) why don't you just buy the set that I have in the forsale section for 120.00 shipped to your door step? They are 2 different colors, but the chrome is excellant.
Good luck on whichever way that you go,bud.
