Thanks. Its a shame that Magnaflow wouldnt build an exhaust for this car and produce it. Will see what kind of a mess i end up with this week from the kit i bought from Bairs and the local muffler shop.
Well its done, i got it home yesterday. The Muffler shop did a great job, they also did the alignment. The car feels great drives well, steers and stops well. I have an issue with the Edelbrock POS carb, will spend today sorting that out. Failing that, we will be buying a 670 Holley Avenger. I went with stock type mufflers, and the car is quiet but has a note of camshaft to it. That was the sound i was looking for. Will post some final pictures and results soon, i am on holidays this coming week, so will have lots of time to sort out the carb.
Hello Mr. Grumpy, I know that these last pictures on the trailer, were when you were taking it to the frame & muffler shop, I know you drove it home. LOL It sure looks good in the Sun, but it's been great watching you go through the whole build. Until you take one off the frame, you really just don't know, do you. Have a ball next week. I will be thinking of you, when I'm out on the Hwy. Have a great day. Gene
Grumpy, congrats! I have been watching this thread and have not really commented but you clearly put a lot of blood and sweat into this car and the results are obvious. I bet it really felt good to drive it! Thank you so much for documenting and sharing your experiences. ! It's guy's like you that make this site so great!
ps: How did your ride height turn out with the Hyperco? I ended up sending mine back to van steel and swapping for a VBP. Curious to hear how yours turned out.
I can only dream of the day my 80 looks as good as yours. After 11 years of ownership I'm not even close to getting done what you have. You should feel proud. I think you've earned a couple of cold beers!
Yes this rebuild was no easy task.when i look back over the pictures, and there are a lot left out, lol. I did a lot of work in less than 2 years. Thank God the car didnt need paint. I have a job that allows me plenty of free time so in fact i got paid by my work to work on my car and rebuild it . I didnt want this to drag on for too long, so i had to push myself to get out there and do one thing every day on the days i didnt feel like getting out there. But between work, Family ,friends, its a fine line to balance it all in ones life. The Wife loves the car and still loves me? LOL. She said no more cars after this one. We will see. lolol.
Well 2 out of 3 issues fixed today. Replaced stat housing and gasket, remade new hood latch cable out of an old steel choke cable i had here, it should work great no more plastic crap. And a new Aluminum tranny pan is on the way.
Got the tranny leak fixed this afternoon, and will start driving it and see what all the hype is all about LMFAO. Still need to get the air conditioning charged, thats the last thing left to do on the car, but a real rush required. I have to wait to get the appraisal back and then get insurance.
