If you were ever safety trained driving a truck they tell you to always back in when you park. That way when you get back in, you're starting off going forward, and have a better chance of seeing something in your way if it's in front of you, rather than backing up and not seeing what's behind you.
IMO with a truck that may make sense, however in a corvette, your eyes are a lot further from the front of the car than the back - (i.e. you have to stick alot of nose out in the drivelane before you could see around an obstacle)
I've personally never understood the need to back in, especially since driving skills seem to have dwindled over the years, I cant tell you how many Gits I see who can barely pull in straight without taking up two spaces let alone backing up, which takes them 2-3 times longer to get in the space and the end result is even worse than if they pulled in straight...
I dont back in anywhere except when parallel parking with any of my cars. in 30+ years of driving I've never been hit.
Both in the summer.
In the winter I back it in for its long sleep..........
That is a beautiful car, but I would be nervous about all of that stuff above and around it especially that ladder and that bowing shelf. My sister got her car damaged thataway.

Get yourself a full size long wheelbase conversion van and you will understand. It's much easier to back in vs pull into a perpendicular parking spot. And easier to get out.
I normally pull in............sometimes I get a wild hair and back in ! I pull in parking spaces very carefully ( Hate to curb it ). Don't like to back in at work, the Boss thinks you are to eager to leave. That's how they figure out who to fire, the people that back in ! !

Perhaps so, but we arent really talking about full size long wheelbase conversion vans are we? in any case I see it far more often in Passenger cars than in the other, merely because there are more of them on the road.
Putting my car in the garage is a real PITA! I have to cram 3 cars, a riding mower, pushmower, snowblower, weed eater, and a fertilizer into a 2 car garage. My camaro is jammed in the back corner, with my Vette jimmyed in next to it with the center post of between the garage doors right in front of it. My mom then gets the other half of the garage to pull her car in. So to get my car out, I have to pull my mom's car out, push my car forward to get the riding mower out from behind it, and then wiggle my car back and forth enough to get out of the door on my mom's side of the garage.
To get it back in, it's a reverse of that.
Out in public, I always back it in spots far away from everyone.
Wow......, seems like it would be easier to just walk to where you need to go. I'm tired just reading everything you have to do to get your car out !!!! Mom needs to start parking outside for starters.

You worry too much. The world will end in 2012 and all those worries will be meaningless.
