NEVER.
Everyone loves my car. I have a friend who built a 10 second Civic and has the timeslips to prove it. He truly admires and respects my car, even though it is not his thing.
And I respect all hot rods. Civics are the 55 Chevys of yesteryear. Maybe they are not for me, but as long as the kids are pulling wrenches, it's cool.
Hey, I have to agree with Jeff here...don't we all share the love of working on our cars and we all want something unique that shows off our talent and taste in a cool way...not trying to be mushy here, but I have friends that race 10 second Toyotas and I am impressed that they can get so much power out of a limited drivetrain...my 78 with a bullet proof 383 can take alot of abuse, but most of these "ricers" really don't have the parts selection that we Chevy SB/BB owners do...I give them kudos for making it work...even if there back at the garage fixing them all the time because of breaks...now the idiots who don't respect or even recognize an American icon as is the Corvette...then they aren't in the same class as I and there opinions don't really carry much weight anyway...my 2C's...DDBS
i have never had anyone say anything negative about my cars. most of the time when i stop somewhere ( even at traffic lights ) somebody will ask about the cars , make nice comments or ask questions.
I guess I'm lucky. Haven't had to deal with this. If it happened to me, I don't give a $hit what anyone says if it's negative. It does surprise how often this topic comes up here. I think it's mostly ignorance and jealousy that make people trash talk some ones car. Sure we bash "ricers" often enough, but mostly in jest.
My 2c.
This topic comes up often probably because of the snobbish arrogance most Vette people exhibit, so the insults and barbs are self induced!!! Me personally, I didn't have to drive my Vettes to have someone hate them, I loathed them enough on my own to cover the spread............HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Had a Camry try and pass me the other day after tailgating me and I slowed down to about 20 mph. As soon as he stomped it and got beside me I stomped mine. He might as well have been in park. That was the best way I knew to handle it. And besides it was fun. Icing on the cake.......his girlfriend was with him. Bwahahahahahahahahaha. Wonder how far his self esteem fell.
I used to think corvette owners were snobs, well I love all of generations of vettes , things really changed ,I'm now the Vice president of the vette club in Ottawa. Ron
I know that when I go out in my wifes 2005 Nissian Altima SER, we get a lot of " Cool Car" comments. I can only hope that when I get my 77 on the road, people will also make positive comments on it.
But, after all, I am rebuilding mine for me. If I like it, well, I'm the one that paid for it. Compliments on the finished product will ofcoarse be great.
Todays kids don't even know how to wear a ball cap, what the He^# would they know about a classic. Our values are going up, while theirs are, do I need to say it !!!!!!!
As a high school shop teacher since 1974 I've long since learned it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks about my ride. Most of the kids at my school think my car is very cool.
I personally think all sorts of cars are cool. Wife had 3 different Mustang GT's and I enjoyed driving them all. Right now she has a Subaru WRX and it's a blast to drive. When I'm not in the Vette I drive a raised up 4wd Dodge Ram.
So in my opinion I think there are tons of cool cars out there. Anyone who can't see that is imature.

I have to agree.
Just the idea of the original post suggests that he considers himself an elitist of sort..

I wouldn't say most, most are regular people, but I have run into Vette Snobs.
At the Car Craft Summer Nationals in St. Paul last year I was admiring a nice 58 Vette when the owner came up and started to tell me about the car and the history of 58 Vettes. I listened to him and then pointed at My 64 Impala SS 2 cars down from his and told him I brought this car instead of my Vette. He never looked in the direction of my 64 SS. I then started to tell him about my 1980 L82 Corvette and what I was doing to it. His reply was "A 1980 isn't worth anything! Why are you wasting your time on that?"
This guy was obviously one of the elite since this was his first Vette and he had bought the car from Pro Team and brought it to the Summer Nationals! I was just a mere peasant.
I doubt that owning a Vette makes some people act like jerks. They've probably been an a$$hole all their lives, and just happen to own a Vette. The same folks that insist on telling you what they paid for their house, how much money they make. We've all met 'em. Me, I pretty much like all old cars and trucks, and if you've got one at a car show and want to show it to me and tell me about it, I'm all ears.
asian hate the corvette because it's american. They drool allover the NSX's. IT happened when I was driving my 86 around. At the light they started crap, saying it was a POS. So I leaned over said nice beer can, where do you put the AAA batteries? laid out a mile of rubber.
You could always look at their car with the oversized rear wing, give them a big hillbilly draw and say "shucks, boy, don't that snow plow go on the front?"
I have a '71 and I hear well I like the '63s or the '57s better. I just
smile and ask what they have ?
I hear ya...I see the late C1's and C2's at the car shows and I just can't get myself to shuck out 40-60 thousand dollars for these cars, even if I did have the money...I'd be too worried about someone hitting it on the road and would probably never drive it...most people are cool and i am always looking for new ideas and twists of what people do to all cars...aren't we all doing the same things anyway...who cares who has what...
Those asian guys that hate just aren't educated about cars that don't have a lawnmower for an engine.
