Had my '76 L-48 recored at a local rad shop. They have been in business for a lot of years. They suggested a 4 tube/core from a big block. Cost was less than $200. That was 6 years ago, and never a bit of trouble.

A group purchase sounds good Tom.

Got mine back from the radiator shop. $350 to recore it. I forgot again to ask about the core he used. Told me when I first talked to him that he would use some kind of better material and that it would be more efficient than the o.e I got it hooked up to the engine sitting in my shop floor. Looks like brand new and no leaks, so I guess I will see...

I'm gonna put on my "Flack Jacket" for this one...but...

I, as did BassCat...got my "Dura-junk" from "Advanc-ico" for $265.00...and have had Zero problems with it. (stock '77/L-48 Auto-A/C)

The only thing I did was changed my thermostat to a 165*...I hear a lot of people here saying there 'vette cools great, maintaining 200* to 220*. That does not fit in my "comfort zone"...lol

I run at 175* to 180* in 95* weather with the A/C cranking. This lets me go for 5 min. without looking at the Temp. Gauge instead of the 30 sec. intervals as in the past.

I think, barring a major malfunction...the only way I would see 200* is if I set it on fire!

Just my .02

Bobby

Hey, as long as it works OK, that's great. Glad it worked for you. I've just seen too many cases of poor quality material coming out of the "Zone".

I am a firm believer yoiu get what you pay for and the old saying buy American. My wife keeps telling me about the cheaper versions on ebay, but I'm holding out until I can afford a new DeWitt. I am sick of having to sit and watch the gauges, I would rather watch the scenery. It's also time to get us working in America again, enough of the foreign stuff.

Amen! Good for you. If more people felt that way our economy would be much different right now. We have to look past the cheap prices and look for the U.S. tag. I will post a GP soon
