hi I have 1971 vette ,350 ,4speed, ac.
black interior, white exterior,I'm not
crazy about the white, would like to change
exterior color to black,I think looks good on
vettes,[just my opinion ] how much would
I expect to loose, if decided to sell later on,
just based on the color change alone.
You'd lose about the cost of a repaint to the correct color. And while the black would look very nice, its especially noticeable that your color is wrong because they didnt have black that year.
PS post this in Corvette general instead of Cars For sale for more response.
It's not necessarily the White/Black that makes it more desirable, but rather that the car is in it's correct colors.
Unless you just absolutely can't stand White, then a correct repaint is the way to go. I used to not care
for White too much either but it has grown on me in recent years and I really like it now, especially on a 70-72.
If you intend to keep the car and never sell it then do to it whatever makes you happy. If you think there's a chance of you selling it somewhere down the line then I would repaint it the original color so that I could recover as much money as possible that I spent on it. Just my .02.
I know if I were interested in buying your car and it was black, That would be a reason to buy it. Black and white are two different worlds on a corvette. There have been surveys taken on this forum, and black always wins out. But don't listen to me, everything I own is black. ( cars, truck and motorcycle )
My vert is originally white. The PO painted it blue. I'm going to strip it and paint it black. Now if the blue paint job on the car now was a 7 from 1 to 10 I'd keep the blue color the same cause it's grown on me, but the paint job IMO is a 2 to 3 and needs to be repainted which will be black so now I'll have my triple black even though it's a 70.
why is that a desirable combination white body, black interior?
That's what I have on my '73.. I've been on the fence of painting it black, but I really like how it likes in white, especially at night! I think the white makes the car look a little bigger and wider. The black may make the car look very narrow, not to mention washing it will be more of a pain. I can stand a little dust on black, but water spots drive me up a wall!
This car was gold(war bonnet yellow) My Girlfirend calls it "babypoop" ...This car will either be painted or sold soon..cause the purple ain't gonna cut it..
Paint it whatever color you like. If we all like the same thing it would be a pretty boring world. And remember opinions are like buttholes...everybody has one!

I know what you mean, but my question was if i decided to change the color from white being (original) to black, how much money would i be
loosing, if any, decided to sell.as for the butt holes hopefully
they all don,t stink.
Do what you want it's your car. The only thing that changes is the buyer. The guy that wants white will buy white. The guy that likes black will buy black. I don't care what color the car is, but if the paint is shinny and in very good shape that will sell the car.
