73 vette lighting
73 vette automatic transmission - the interior seems dark at nite especially the the shift lens on the console and the heat/fan area on the console are these areas supposed to be lit?

Alan is right. I have a '73 automatic and the gear selection plate and heater controls are illuminated. When I took the center console side trim off I found the light laying on the tunnel. The clip had fallen out of the mounting location and I was not getting any light.

Very possible that the rheostat dimmer in the headlight switch is worn out. It should change brightness level throughout its entire range of movement. If the brightness level maximizes somewhere short of a full turn, the 'pot' is shot. You could test it by jumpering a line across the rheostat terminals; that should give you the full brightness level available if you should replace the switch/dimmer.
