dying interior
Im in the process of dying my interior but going to use the original color ( dark brown). I know the key to this is to get all dirt, armor all, and any other grime which may have accumlitated over the years. I,ll confess upfront, Im nowhere near a painter but I thought I could handle this. After cleaning, I used special plastic prep and then plastic
primer. I actually let everything dry over night, then sprayed with the dye. After the dye dried,it all came out splotchy looking.
Im always amazed at the knowledge on this forum so hopefully I will be able to get some opionins on what went wrong.

your not suppost to let the plastic prep dry to long, it's supposed to flask(semi dry shiny looking) then give another coat and then dye when that coat flasks off, you waited to long and the prep wore off, and use good stuff also i used the s.e.m from a pro paint shop, go to a local auto paint shop and buy a system, i ended up changing the pieces any way becuase in my opinion it will always have a problem. i've done it several timesd and even had a shop do it and it still wasnt right. i just replaced the parts with new so i had the piece of mind and no worries when someone or something toughed it about it rubbing off, jmo good luck

Just redyed my 69, looks great!
I used the C.A. rattle cans in bright blue.
Prep Clean - rubbing alcohol this will remove the old dye as well and dries quickly.
Dye Primer from C.A. too, light coat then coated with the color while still tacky. If you need another coat do not prime again just another light coat.
I had all the parts out and dyed the door panels, dash pads, console, brake console, seat backs, kick panels .... and get compliments all the time.
Pictures, still a few things left to finish up but gettting close!
