A corvette owner saw the progress I have made on my 68 frame off restoration and asked if he could pay me to lift to body off his 77 vette. What would be a fair pice for me to charge him to lift the body?
too many variables unknown, why you lifting the body ? ? ?
condition ? is car stripped all ready ? Paint condition ?
who's responable for anything damaged ? scratched ? broken ?
I would only do it by the hour, with agreed upon the rate per hour ahead of time.
and a clear understanding of who is responsable for what.

Give him an hrly rate or just shoot a comfortable flat rate. Do you have any torches. You'll most likely need them to heat up a few bolts so you don't break them off.
The car is in need of restoration. The owner doesn’t have a ceiling tall or strong enough to lift it himself. The car can start but the brakes are rusted though so it isn't moving anywhere. It is a Connecticut car and has been outside for a few years so it will be a pain to get the bolt unstuck. I have a well supply of tools so that’s not a problem. He would like to pay a flat rate so there aren’t any surprises down the road.
Do you honestly want to fool with this? Time spent on his car will take time from your restoration. Working on your own car means you only have to keep yourself happy. Working on his car means you have to keep him happy.

Years ago I used to be setup to go to anyone's home or shop and lift Corvette body's. I used to give a basic estimate of $1500 to remove the body and come back and reset the body plus driving time. There were some conditions before and after that were explained.
Hi 76V,
I think the actual lifting of the body is the quick part, the time and thus the $$ is in getting it ready to lift.
Regards,
Alan
I agree...I'd also say $1500 is a fair price. This would be to strap the body, lift it of the chassis, and owner supplies the dolly. If you have to go to the car set up a lift of some sort at the location then lift the body, I'd charge by the hour.
With my rig I never found a garage I couldnt lift the body off in. This garage is 8'8" and as you can see I have the body up higher than it needs to be to clear while rolling the body sideways off the chassis. Notice the tires and hitch on the cherry picker for towing behind the truck.
He is going to bring the car to my place so I don't have to travel that far. I need to be working on my own corvettes but without money I can't do much so that why I want to do this. As I recall the lifting the body wasn't hard at all it was the 4 of 8 stuck bolts that took for ever. If I were to charge hourly what would be a good rate? I just figured that I would earn more if there was just a price for the whole job; plus people like to know how much they are going to spend.
