I have finally purchased my 82 Vette
I love it and am thrilled with the style and feel of the car. It shows great and everyone who sees it does a double take. When I become a full member, I will post the photos of this wonderful machine. I have had every neighbor come by and view and they love it. I even had 4-5 of them ask if it was an 82. When I said yes, they all said it was one of their favorites!
I have one question, to me this is one of the best looking vettes of all time, why does the 82 have such a bad rap and get so many online Jabs?
Post photos today. There's a great tutorial as a sticky on the C3 Parts for sale section, or I can email you simple directions. Its a matter of uploading your pics to Photobucket, copying the correct link and pasting it into your post. Easy.
PS, I dont think anyone picks on '82 for their looks, the 80-82 are beautiful cars. Any zeroing in on the '82 is about the Cross-Fire and they are just a little more tempermental than the earlier cars. They are still fine cars.
I have an 82 crossfire, and its had its issues, but you would be hard pressed to find anyone on this forum that hasnt. Regardless of year. I have also heard negative comments about the 82 but......
Heres something you can be proud of:
~Last of the C3's
~Only C3 with fuel injection
~Good power to weight ratio (215hp on 3000lbs)
~Not the slowest Vette in the linage.
~Turns heads wherever you go
~No one liked the 63 split window either.
All of the above makes for a great collector car investment!
I'm on my 2nd 82. my 1st was brand new in 82. Liked it so well, thats why I bought this a yr ago. I've put about 4K into it as of now, and probably more later. But it's the last of that style myabe thats why I like them....good luck with it & enjoy......
The 82 & 84 CFI trash talkers are from those that never took the time to learn how to work on these unique Vettes; you need some special knowledge and some hands on and you'll rarely have problems - compared to a carbed Vette, TBI is a walk in the park!
Well, I have had it for 10 days now and the heads are turning everywhere I go. It has been everything I expected it to be and more. I am going to my first Classic car show next weekend. Not as one of the attendees but just as a drive by with my grandson. He is 10 and the first thing he said was "Pa, Thanks for buying me this car!!!" I picked him up at school and his firends flipped along with everyone else. I went by a weekend sit and chat or parking lot with cars. I was in my family car though with a couple of friends. I am taking my grandson next week in the "82" and have a question. Who do I park with, the new corvettes or the classic hot rods. The new vettes of course are beautiful but the classics are almost as cool as mine! Love all the previous feedback and look forward to more communication. Pictures coming soon!
If you park with the C4, C5 and C6's, be prepared, more people will be looking at your C3 than theirs! Our local car show has a ton of C5's and it's hard to get a parking place because of them, but when we do, we take over the Vette section - we are a one Vette show where ever we go!

Just park it and they will come...........
very true,
i could have owned any vette i wanted. my wife asked why i bought the 72 BB convertible. my answer because no one else in town has one. i am almost embarrassed to drive by the high school near my home from all the looks it gets. i am waaaayyyyyy to old for that.
When I purchased the car, I had a professional appraisal for insurance purposes. The appraisor said the color was an option for this car and felt it was the original colors. However, the car was painted 10 years ago and so he wasnt positive. I am going to be doing more research to find out what it was but I have decided I really dont care at this point as I agree, it is just a beautiful car.
Drove by a 2005 today and just decided again, C3 was the way to go. One day I will get an earlier one but for today, your right, I am enjoying my own traveling car show.

I'd park with the classics....that's where your car belongs.
BTW, check your trim tag for the exterior color code......there were 3 blues in 82.
24 = Silver Blue Metallic
26 = Dark Blue Metallic
31 = Bright Blue Metallic.....I think this is your color.
I just picked-up my 82 this spring and love it and couldn't be any happier with it. It looks great and runs great and even gets decent gas mileage for an antique performance car.
When I first saw it my jaw dropped and so does everyone else that sees it for the first time.
Most people seem to be afraid of fuel injection because it is more complicated than a carburator, but isn't everything fuel injected now? I think FI has stood the test of time and the results speak for themselves.
Sure, if I could plunk down $20k plus for a chrome bumper I would too, but I am happy with what I paid for my 82 and intend to keep it forever.
