Hi M1,
An OFTEN asked question!!!! Lot's of good platers around.
I like Librandi in Middleburg, Pa. (near Harrisburg). They do beautiful work at a reasonable price and are very used to working on Corvette parts. Most shops will give you a rough idea of cost over the phone but ask to see the parts first before making a quote.
Regards,
Alan
You say to search the forum for this has been asked many a times. Hell, got better things than to go thru a million threads. Guess I just don't have as much time as you seem to.
Anyone ever hear of the Plater in Tenessee? Or somewhere near that state? Thanks
The guy in PA wanted $300 a piece to do my bumpers. Way too much. I figuured $400-$500 for both.
Check on MARA Polishing & Plating in Newark, NJ and All Brite Plating, also in Newark. I haven't delt with either personally, but I know people who have had success with both.
$300 each is a pretty average price for a good quality, triple chrome plated bumper, though. The saying "You get what you pay for", is especially true with chrome plating.

Amen....
One way you can find a good plate shop is to find one who does more industrial work than dress up. These shops HAVE to do quality work or they won't stay in business........
Ask any bikers you see who did their chrome as they usually have good chrome on their bikes.
I am in Massachsetts and my shop quoted me prices on street chrome and triple plate chrome but was honest enough to tell me that GM did not use triple plate chrome on their bumpers so if you want it to look original, street chrome is the way to go.
I paid $400.00 to have all my front and rear bumpers and bumperettes done but they had no damage and did not need any metal work. Your price may vary depending on the prep work.
As someone else said, you get what you pay for and I only wanted to restore my 68 ONCE so I wanted it doen right the first time.
Good luck with your project,
Kurt
