3 p.m.: For the second time this afternoon, the National Weather Service has upped its snow total accumulation expectations. Now, Carroll County can expect accumulation totals of 20 to 30 inches of snow. Expect snow drifts of 3 to 6 feet with blowing and drifting of snow constant today and tonight.

I went out to shovel some more, and when I came back, technical difficulties prevented another measurement (we lost our ruler as the snow is more than a foot deep). My T-square says 13.5" at 4:50 pm. The T-square is only 24" long and I can't find a steel tape anywhere.

Man. you guys are just getting pummelled!
I lived in S. NJ for 5 years and we got a couple of nasty snows, but nothing like what you are getting now.

Here in Chicago, we are plowing through about 12-20", as mentioned before, I've shovelled 4 times in 36 hours, but we know what to do with it and the cities can deal with it. Out East, you're just not prepared.

Good luck, don't run out of beer!

Well can you dig this....(pun intended)....as I am giving up and just going to bed for the night...to fight another three day dig out....I look out my front kitchen window and see two people shoveling my driveway. At first, I thought I was having a flash back....but no, there are two guys out there....So, I open the door and tell them I am /will be okay....please see to my other elderly neighbor's....well they said, we've already done them and they were just trying to make a little extra monies...so now I feel obligated to pay them something. Well, I go out with $30.00 in hand...and they refuse it. They then state they have been already been paid, and paid well... by my neighbor's...for me taking care of them. Guy's and Gal's I am almost at tears writing this....what a nice pay it forward.....Please do your neighbors the same. I am just beyond words..........

I don't mean to be the bearer of bad news, but there is another storm system coming through Houston tomorrow that should be up your way next Monday

The last two storm systems came through Houston first, but we just got rain.

It's still snowing here, we already have 14" and it's supposed stop around 2 am. We go out about every 2 hours and shovel more so that we can stay on top of it as much as possible in order to make the morning dig out as little as possible before going to work. More snow is expected here this coming Monday.

Gregg, thats an awesome story. It's always nice to see there is still some "love thy neighbor" action in this world. At this moment we are getting the last gasp of the storm here in Purcellville Va....Here are some shots after tonights big dig...(all by my 52 year old fatazz self!...not that I'm complaining that much..I could save some gym money if it snowed like this all the time)

SkyDog huntin the cat!

The vette is safe and sound inside the garage

all! Stay safe and dry! I've got cabin fever. They closed the office tomorrow again but I'm going in anyway!

Pretty cool story, about the only good thing about these storms is they tend to bring people together helping each other dig out.

Hey buddy....Skydog looks like a wolf! What kind of dog is he? And, you may know this already but just the same...All breeds of dogs trace back to the wolf....all breeds....no exceptions. Just a neat little fact to know / remember when he's licking your face off.
