I am having my '69 rear deck repaired and repainted this winter. It has many scratches and wear lines where both the soft top and hard top rest.
After this is done, I would like to protect it from future maring. Is there some clear pastic sheilding that protects the deck from both the soft and hard top? They both come in contact with the deck in different configurations, but I want to make sure it is protected for both.
I plan to replace the weather stripping on the tops as well which should help.
Most of the suppliers have them in clear and black. Both for the soft top and hard top , but you need one of each, they are removable and can be reinstalled as you need them.

A friend had the protector on his 72. Seemed like a bit of a faff putting it on and taking it off all the time BUT to save the paint, got to be worth a few $ and a few mins!
They work and are worth the time to install them. I prefer the look of the Hard top and installed one made for the hard top. The time's I did remove the top, there was no damage to the paint. I would just wipe off any dust that may have collected in the area. I've had mine since 1993 and they do yellow over time.
