Default 71Convertible Top

I read in a corvette mag. that their was a optional power soft top. I ordered a new 71 LT-1 convertible and I do not remenber that option being avalaible. Does anybody now? Thanks!

Can't say I've ever heard of a power convertible top in a C3.

Probably some aftermarket thing sold to lazy 'meatheads' with too much money on their hands. Anyone with a Corvette who needs a powered top should be driving a 'Beamer' instead.

Hi,
I agree with SS.
I believe the 'power top' was an option on 56-62 Corvettes. It was a pretty complicated electric/hydraulic system.
I remember being fascinated with the 'power top' on my 55 BelAir and 64 Impala.
Regards,
Alan

I had a power top on my 68 Camaro...no such option on our C3 corvettes.

Some C1s had a power top option; C5s and C6s have them. C3s did not have a power top option.

I can't imagine where the pumps could be located.

Nope none offered unless, like 7T1 said, it was an aftermarket deal.

A bit off topic but I have always been impressed with how clean the Corvette tops look when down. No bundled up pile in view like on some cars. IMHO the clean decklid really "makes" the look of a convertible.

Hi Paul,
The pump would have been located in the same place as in the 56-62 cars.... in the TRUNK..................................! ?
Regards,
Alan

PS: Can't you just see ANOTHER system run off the engine vacuum!

The C3's didn't come with a power convertible top, electric or vacuum.
