Default Lumpy?

I was hoping to get some opinions.
My current license plates read: LUMPY 74, they are coming up for renewal soon, and I'm trying to decide whether to keep them or just get regular plates.
At the time I asked for the plates I thought it sounded good, but now I'm not so sure.
I think the C3 body style looks lumpy, especially sitting in the car looking out over the hood and fenders, but nobody else seems to get it when they see my plates.
What do you think, should I keep them or get something different?

Hi T71,
If I remember correctly, years ago 'lumpy' referred to a certain idle and/or cam.
He was also Wally's fat friend on 'Leave it to Beaver'.
So????
Regards,
Alan

I agree with Alan: certain cam profile notes would be the draw to that particular handle on your plates. When I look at the lines of the car, lumpy does not come to mind.

That's like saying your favorite girl is lumpy. Bet you won't be getting any lovin' from her making a crack like that!

Sexy. Curvy. Snakey. Even, Coke-bottle-shaped. Yes.

The other, not so much.

Good Luck, whatever you decide.

Lumpy? When I look over the front, while sitting in the drivers seat, I see some really beautiful lines, not lumps. Pick a new plate, good luck, with whatever you choose.

when I see Lumpy, first thought that comes to mind is its your nickname (not a good one either), second thought that comes to mind is you have a "Lumpy camshaft".

The lines of the car do not come to mind.

time for a change

(CURVY 74) would be better

I think it's time to rethink the plates.

I would go with another personalized plate - gives it more personality - but that's just me.

Thanks for the responses.
I'm going to change them at renewal, or maybe sooner.
I would still like to have personalized plates. I guess I need to put a little more thought into it next time.
It might not be a bad idea to get opinions from people on the forum BEFORE I commit to a new plate this time.

"Curvett" would be more like it.

That was Lumpy Rutherford. If you were him I would keep the plate. Otherwise a change is in order.

I like the ideas, especially 2DOOR74 and CURVETT.
I had TREVS80 on a Camaro years ago, but wanting something different than TREVS74.

Few folks under the age of 50 understand what "Lumpy" refers to on a car. I'd drop that name and put something more 'interesting/attractive' on the plate. Personally, having a vintage C3 and putting a generic license plate on it just doesn't get it for me.

I'm going to say sometimes a generic plate IS the way to go. It can be understated & classy.
Sometimes a custom plate makes it seem like you are trying too hard.
How many times have we seen something like "97 civic" on a Honda. Not saying a c3 is anything like a Honda, but the Honda driver appears too proud of his car.

If someone says "nice car" to me, I like to (pretend) to be humble, and reply "you mean that old thing, yeah its a fun little car". The generic plate works well with the "humble" theme......like you dont know your perfect condition vette is worth a lot of money.

Just another viewpoint here, I see both sides of the argument.....

custom plates I dont like....

1) When it makes zero sense to anyone but you.....for example PKEZALT

2) when you have to badly mis-spell what you want because all other spellings are taken....for exmaple "KOORVITT"

Well, a generic plate would be better than "LUMPY".
