Default What is the difference between these switches?

Hey guys, I have been messing around with my door jamb switch and courtisy light switches. I would like to replace them, but I am not sure what the differences is between the following items on Wilcox corvette's website.

What are the 6 terminals for 8.27? Part Number: 49806.

Here are the two complete switches for 10.95 each
Courtisey light swithc: EC253-2000
Door jamb switch:E3755-36934

What part of the switch is the terminal? Is that the part where the wire connects? This feels like a dumb question

What year is your car and please clarify which switches-- the jamb switches (front of door)
or the door ajar switches (back of door) ?

THanks for the reply,

It is a 73, and I am talking about both switches, the one infront and the one to the rear of the door.

The differences in those switches is length of apply pin, depth of threaded member, number of contacts, etc. etc. Basically, they are all a little different from each other.

You will not get good results from replacing them with 'generic' local auto parts store items due to improper fit. Buy the parts made for your specific applications at lectriclimited.com. They have them all.

Depending on the application you will need no less than 10 of the contacts. ( I prefer to fill all 3 spots in the switch so I would use 15.)
2 courtesy light switches , 3 of the door ajar switches if your replacing the hood switch.

I understand now, The terminals are the small metal peices that go on the tip of the wire that slide into the switches.

I couldn't tell what the picture was for the pack of 6 terminals.

Thanks guys!

James

Hi Roger,
So I understand... you put the contact in the slot but there's no wire attached. What's the benefit?
Thanks!
Regards,
Alan

With 3 they all sit evenly. With 2, the contacts sometimes don't make good contact. I had one in last week the courtesy lights wouldn't always light but flicking the switch would turn the lights on, I installed the 3rd dummy and it worked great.
(I didnt used to have this problem with the factory switches I used to buy from Chevy.)
