I see that a lot of people on here have gone that route. I have done some research on the company and they seem to have a great track record. They also offer a warranty comparable to GM. Plus I can work directly with them to cusomize to my needs.
that 330hp 350ho is a good crate choice and a GM warranty is simply the best & since it's fairly enforceable nationwide that makes it the best squared.
Just a little piece of advice to anyone buying a crate engine through GM that was assembled in Mexico. I bought a GM crate engine for my truck and I put the damper and pulleys on and had to take them back off again. When I installed the damper bolt it went in easy by hand and tightened up normal, but when I went to take the bolt back out, I pannicked when the the bolt was running very hard all of the way out. The threaded hole was not cleaned out properly at the Mexico factory when it was tapped out and the bolt picked up a piece of metal on the threads and pulled all of the threads out of the crank. The GM dealer said they had seen it before and took care of it , but I learned a good lesson when buying an engine made in Mexico.
I bought a 1980 C-3 a little over a year ago - it had been sitting undriven in a garage for 2 years - the owner - don't know how many preceeded him - owned it for 20 years.
The engine was a bit noisy - but bought it anyway - thinking that the car's rough running was due to it having been undriven for 2 years.
Big surprise - a qualified mechanic could not adjust vales on either side of the factory 350 cubic inch - 190 horsepower.
I bought a new GM Crate Engine from Pace Performance - they had the best price - still a 350 cubic inch, but I'm now running 330 HP. I had the transmission rebuilt - the car had 127K on it. Because of the increase in HP - had a more powerful torque converter mated to the transmission - absolutely no problems with the drive-train handling the increased HP.
No longer a true 100% Corvette - but the thing runs like a rocket!
