Default Bone head move, need suggestions

Okay,
So I am redoing the wiper bay. I was removing the bracket for the wiper door switch. The socket came loose from the ratchet. You guessed it. It rolled down and fell inside the fender. Any suggestions on how to get it out. I am going to bring home some flex magnets tommorrow. But I can already tell that this is really going to try my patience. Any other ideas would be welcome.

SOAP on a ROPE

Seriously maybe a magnet on a heavy piece of string,
OR
Can you reach it thru the inside thru the vent door ? with a magnet.

I have a plastic
wiper door part, I need to go hunting one of these days it fell on the
passenger side.

I have used the bar-magnet/string approach with success. Now, when working in that area, I stuff a rag in that opening before I begin work.

Sounds like it's time to get assistance from a helper with little hands and little arms!

Like a five or six year old boy. Either one of my grand-kids would gladly help.

Take the car on a fast ride on a bumpy road...the socket will come out but you'll never see it again.

Sorry for the attempt at humor at your expense. I agree with the above...flexible magnet or magnet on a string should do the trick for you.

It might be sitting on top of the splash shield. I believe there are only 4 or 5 1/4" screws holding them in place at the cowl end of the fenders.

I always use a shop vac with the 1 1/2" hose or so. It gets to the bottom and you would be surprised at what you might find.
Empty the vac of garbage first.

If it dropped all the way down you can remove the kick panel & open the vent door and reach into that area. The doors are removable with a spring loaded pin for better access.

I was putting my wiper door back on, and dropped one of the bolts down there. I have a thin magnet on the end of a telescoping wand that did the trick. It took a little patience, but it worked. If you can see it, you can get it. You will get better visibility with the wiper door off if you have one.

Shop vac with a smaller diam. hose (vac hose or heater hose) duct taped to the end should pull anything you have down there.. Plus! Ya get to use Duct Tape!

I have something similar, a magnet on the end of a flexible shaft. Lets me get around some obstacles. The shaft is stiff enough to let me push it into areas but flexible enough to get around shallow corners. Works quite well. Not sure where I bought it, a long time ago, maybe Sears?

If it's near the wall of the fender, wonder if a powerful magnet might capture it from the other side? Cover the magnet with something soft like cloth, slide it up to where you could reach it?

My brother came over with his flex mags and got it in about 10 minutes.
