I'am. Putting in a radio in my 74. There was no radio in it when I got it . Did find the yellow wire that they. Had use for power when key is on. Is there a live wire there from the factory . What about the ground? Looks like the yellow wire was cut from a plug in that also has a black and gray. Any help would be great. Thanks.......
How much power (current draw) is your new system going to need? The Delco head unit was pretty puny...that yellow wire going to the radio is probably only rated for 5-10 amps and is linked with several other power using items in the car. The radio probably used 2-3 amps maxed out! If you are installing a 'power sucking' radio head/amp, you will have to run a new power line from an adequate source and fuse it appropriately. If you need constant 12v for a digital clock in the new head, you will need to run a line from the 'open' BAT connection at the fuse block (that 'clock' feeder line on the new radio head should already have an in-line fuse in it).

I'am putting in a custom autosound usa-630 . With a power antenna. Might use an amp. ( small one). But will run that from the battery.
