Hi guys I'm over from the C6 side but I need some input. A coworker is thinking of selling his original 1971 with 14,000 miles. He bought this car when he got out of the marines and is the only owner.
It is a 454/365hp with an automatic trans. Power sterring, the only thing not original is the tires. He put radials on it and no longer has the originals.
The car has never been damaged and has never had any work done to it. It is a light blue (not sure of the color name) and has t tops.
Hi n,
A 14,000 mile 71..... NICE!!!!
If the car really is unmolested and the only thing that's been changed are the tires, the car could be worth quite a bit to someone who's looking for a Corvette to bring to Bloomington Gold and the NCRS for judging as an un-restored car.
People like to find a car that hasn't been 'seen' before.
I'd think it would be a good idea to have someone who's very familiar with 70-72 cars take a look at the car with you, and give you his impressions of what he's seeing.
This could be VERY interesting.
Good Luck!
Regards,
Alan

what he said....
The only monetary minus / hold back... is the auto trans. If, this is a true unmolested 14K mile car in #1 or # 2 condition I would think it could be sold for 40K-30K and more.... after being campained through Bloomington / NCRS.
Please PM me with the name, address, & phone number of your friend. I will be glad to contact him (on your behalf, of course ) and let you know if you should consider it. Rest assured, if I think that car is not really what you want, I will "take care of things" myself.

BUT................
Stay in tune....
I am going to try and get some photos soon. This car has been sitting covered in his building for over 20 years, only driven 2 or 3 times a year around his property. Also trying to get the build sheet to get all the particulars straight.
Advise your friend to have the car appraised. Without pics, any dollar value from any of us would be pure speculation. While waiting for the appraisal, your friend should find and assemble all of the orignal documentation he has for his 71. Factory documentation adds to value.

This one is TOUGH to answer if it a true SURVIVOR even if the paint is so thin you can see all the body seams it is a prized ans highly valued car....more so then a fully restored care... and if you change a part or two or cosmetically clean it up the value drops like a rock...
These cars I can not stand... never look all that good BUT they are used as a benchmark of how these cars left the factory ...
My guess is at least 30 grand....IF it is ALL original ... if it has replacement starter in it the value drops by a couple of grand...
Hard to price and hard to own..because you can't do much to it that will not effect its value....kind of like refinishing a 17th Century highboy ...its only original once...
muslanne blue ,, that car is sharp now I would say 35-40 lets see how this goes
I have the same color combo on my car but mines a 70 I wish my car looked half as good as his ,,, did it come stock with the black horn cap
Hi n,
Well!!!!
From the pictures this looks to be a very nice car.
What are the engine compartment and chassis like? Those 2 areas will affect it's value too.
A interesting find!

I will try and get some photos of the engine compartment, but I doubt he has any of the chassis. I can tell you that this car has never been stored or kept outside, always inside covered up.
