Default removing haze from tailight

does anyone know what products are good to buff out or re-paint my hazed tailights. Dupi-color has a "night shades" product that look pretty good but is "blacks" out the tailight. Once the light is on, the red of the light shows through. But I don't want to black out my tailights and can't find a red colored coating.

Any suggestions?

Try polishing them with an aluminum wheel polish such as Mothers

Any toothpaste works well. I use dollar store toothpaste in the garage to not offend anyone. It brings red lenses to a bright luster.

#0000 steel wool, followed by rubbing compound, followed by polishing compound. Then coat it with polymer 'sealant' like Nu-Vinyl or Meguiar's for plastic parts so that the UV doesn't dull them again.

Toothpaste is a very mild abrasive. I doubt that it will 'cut' plastic enough to do any good.

Hi,
Toothpaste really does work!
Meguiars makes a nice plastic polish that works well too.
Regards,
Alan

You could probably use toothpaste in place of the 'polishing compound' (final step). But, I don't know if I want my tail lamp lenses to be "whiter and brighter".

Yes, it does. I have a few similar products for the convertible back window.

The best (in my opinion) is not well known for obvious reasons. But it is VERY good, albeit expensive.

No-joke! Before using any coarse abrasives, if you just have haze, try toothpaste first. Any toothpaste, they all have the same fine grit. My marker lense and tailights have been polished with toothpaste and they even smelled good afterward. You may need to use more than one application, but it won't lead to scratches that are more difficult to remove. There are polishing compound of varying degrees of grit you can use. Remember, fine paper and wool is meant to take material down to a level surface that can be polished. If you don't have scratches, these will make them and need to be buffed out. Deep scratches might be best dealt with by spraying a coat of clear, but check with your paint supplier first. Chemicals like lacquer thinner might ruin a plastic lens. It is best to start with the least aggressive approach first and test result, or you can make more work for yourself.
