Average life?

My 68 has 53,205 miles on it. That's approximately 1,237 miles per year.
If average driving is 12,000 miles a year she would have 516,000 miles on it by now. I think my 68 will be around for quite some time.

They never die! They just keep getting 'resurrected' every now and then. (Death only happens with a complete demise from a bad accident.)

"dying?"

Cars are like any object you use and care for. The better you care for it, the longer it will last. People and animals die, cars do not. I had a 1989 Turbo Trans Am (the one with the GN turbo engine) that had 200K miles on it. It still ran good, looked great for its age. It was all stock when I got it except for muffler, tires, etc. The original owner just drove it and took care of issues when it needed it. After awhile it developed a cam knock and when taking the engine apart it looked like it only had 20K miles, everything was super clean.

Hi,
Back in the sixties and seventies I think cars were designed to go about 100,000 miles with proper maintenance before needing major work.
Regards,
Alan
Not 1/4 mile at a time, or "on this straight stretch from this tree to the first house".

Hey C3's are 43 years old!!! and they are still alive!! They could last another 100 years or if you set it on fire it is done, but if you do we will get you Enjoy a C3 and fix what it needs when it needs it and it will last as long as any car!!

Remember, mileage does not mean squat. There are many C3's or any other 30 + yr older cars that have less than 20K miles and they leak, run like crap and need all new bushings, gaskets, seals, etc.

Lol....Depends on the driver.....
I WILL NOT let my sons ever drive any of my Corvettes,...I know better ...
BUT I made the mistake of letting my daughter drive one of my Corvettes one day ..only to have her bust a U-Joint on one of the half shafts ... Guess she wanted to do a hole shot...
Actually these cars are very simple and no reason they can not be kept running forever as parts are available and easy to get for the most part..
BTW... My buddy just wrecked his 96 Grand Sport driving an instructor around summit point Race track......car had 230,000 miles on it . and WAS raced HARD...engine rebuilt once replaced the trans twice ... Since he was NOT racing...his insurance after a little hassling gave him $18K for the car ... 15 yr old Corvette.. 230,000 miles and not in show shape...not bad...

Live forever
C3's live forever, even if you totally wreck one, somebody will salvage the good parts and put those parts in another one.
And, by the way, you do not actually ever own a C3. It is merely "on loan" to you to play with, until the next guy gets it and takes it apart again!
Cheers
