I have a 1972 coupe and the last 4 digits of the vin are 1972. If I am reading everything right, there could have only been two vettes that year that had those ending #'s. Am I right? I have owned this one for over 18 years and just now curious about the #'s. Any additional value to the car if this is true? I am thinking of listing it, it is in great shape.
Thanks all and keep the wave.......
Oh, there's somebody that would read that as "karma" when they checked it out before buying it. If you ever sell it, drop that little tidbit of info on them during the 'speil' and see if their eyes light up.
If they do, you might get a few buck$ more on the deal. Now, if the car was good enough to make it to Barrett-Jackson, I'm sure some rich jackass would shell out a grand or more just for that little 'quirk'.
If you want that vin to add value to the vette you will have to launch a marketing campaign, perhaps produce a documentary film about the car, put it on ebay a few times with detailed description.. "ONE OF ONLY THREE".... "THE FIRST TRUE 1972 CORVETTE"... unless it was "THE LAST 1972 NUMBERED CORVETTE", and then auction it off for charity (well, donate 50% of the proceeds to charity) and you should be able to sell it for $500,000. You have to TELL people how rare, unique and desirable the car is. Don't expect them to figure it out without lots of help.
I think maybe 3 with that 1972. They started with 500001 and ended with 527004
501972
511972
521972
Make sense?

No such luck, it was the second one made with those #'s......maybe I'll only ask 250K.
Hmmmm, the last 4 digits on my 70 are 5512. Does this mean it's one of maybe two with that sequence? Could it be valuable? Interesting marketting spin. Yeah, having the last 4 digits match the year takes matching numbers to a new level...
