well...Im Alive
Well 5 days after my birthday...I hydroplaned my birthday 81...spun out...was t boned right in my drivers door, the cabin was crushed...as well as my left leg that was broken into 8 pieces and one of those pieces decided to spear itself into the center console. Long story short after being cut out of my dream car, having 2 surgeries I am suppose to leave the hospital on Fri then be on bed rest for a month, and can't even take my leg out of horizontal position...all that matters is that I'm alive and look forward to playing another day....

So sorry to hear about your accident and glad you are on the mend. Get well soon and these cars will be here again when you are recovered and ready to get back out on the open road.
Quick recovery to you.

I hope you make a full recovery, that sounds like a hell of an injury to bounce back from. As far as the 'vette, well, it's just a car, you can get another one. Good luck!

i am sorry to hear this and wish you a speedy recovery.i am mindful of the fact that these cars don't have all the modern safety features and we should all work to make them as safe as possible.hang in there as there are more cars and cruises to be had.

Glad to hear that you are ok or at least sort of ok. That sounds like a fairly painful event but, "at least you are alive"
Best of luck and a speedy recovery

Like every one else I am glad you are okay. On the bright side durring recovery you have plenty of time to find the new dream car and hunt down deals. I know a place in VA thats a good vette dealer and would be happy to link him to you via PM (he is not on the forum)

keep your chin up, They have made amazing advances in medicine in the last 20 years. When I was your age, that leg probably would have had to come off! I have friends who got blown up pretty good over in Afghanistan and Iraq, probably worse than you are, (one of them spent almost a year inpatient at Walter Reed) and they are walking around just fine now. Follow the Doctor's orders, and don't give up, you are gonna be just fine. It sounds crazy now, but someday, you're gonna look back at this and laugh......

P.S. Here's a tip from someone who knows: If they have you on a morphine drip, tell 'em you feel nauseous, they will give you something for the nausea, and that sends you right into orbit!!

Painful isn't the word...when they separated the car some so we could actually see my legs and I saw my left leg was was in a right angle at a place that doesn't bend...and they cut my jeans open and it was like they cut open a burrito...my leg was wide open and stuff was everywhere...and rain was falling into it....

Wishing you a sucessfull and speedy recovery!
I hope this proves to be a sad reminder to everyone on the forum how our cars lack all of the safety features of modern cars and are so low they can't be seen in some traffic situations! I've used my '81 as a daily driver for 4 months now and can testify the fact that nobody sees me - especially since its been raining here in east central Florida and my car is a two-tone silver and dark blue. I really need to repair my horn!
Be carefull out there, folks!

Man, am I/we glad that you are still able to be here. I remember when you came on the Forum asking about a car to buy. Life happens so fast we never know what is going to occur next. Best wishes on your recovery. Hope to see you on here while you heal up. mike...

Like everyone else, glad to hear you're alive. Too bad your time with the Vette was short. Hoping for a full recovery. That's your clutch leg so you want it strong if your next one's a shift car. Be well and keep us posted on progress.
