Nancy & i were on vacation last week up north in a small fishing village.

i backed the batmobile into a spot on the far side of the harbor & as we walked around the docks i watched as a big suv backed into the rock wall beside my Corvette...the fat teenaged daughter thru her door open to run back & look at what her mother had just hit, having absolutely no regard for what was parked beside her...my Batmobile

we immediately walked back but she had missed the Batmobile

it does **** ya off when people have no respect for what is parked near them -they just don;t give it any thought at all

I most wholeheartedly concur!! My Corvette is not "just" a car. I have an emotional attachment to it. I used to drive a hand me down '83 Ford Escort years ago. It was just a car. My Corvette isn't.

On the other hand, emotional attachment or not, driving any car in the real world carries a risk. And if you wanna be happy, you just better learn to live with it.

I remember MANY years ago, a friend and I went to a bar in his new car. We parked way the hell out with no one around us. When we came back out, there was a car parked so close to his he couldn't even get in the drivers side. No other cars anywhere near, just his car and the idiot that parked next to him. Did I mention the nice ding they put in his door as well?

Since we had had a couple of beers, we were not impressed with this idiots parking job. I'm sure he became aware of our feelings when he found his car later.

I will admit when I was around 20 I came out of Walmart and some A-Hole parked about 6 inches from my drivers door with his pick up. no way in hell I could get an leg in between my car and his truck.

before climbing in the passenger side and not caring if anyone was watching I pulled out my knife crawled up between our cars from the ground and cut both passenger sidewalls of his tires. good damn thing he was at Walmart I though cause he is going to need 2 new tires.

I felt guilty for a few mins after I did it, but that passed as I had to crawl over the center console of my 77 trans am to get in the drivers seat.

Ya know, I can't help but think that, at this very moment, someone on a 4-wheeler forum is posting a story about the time some jerk slashed his tires at Walmart......... FOR NO REASON!

Those of you that say it's just a car, really? It's called respect of other peoples property, something my parents tought me at a young age.

My Vette is not " just a car". My Mustang GT is. When I bought my Vette 6 years ago it was an emotional purchase due to the circumstances. I rarely leave my baby unattended anymore due to the aholes that seem to thrive here in Dallas.

I've been thinking about this a little more, and the "just a car" comment got under my skin.

It isn't just a car!!! That "car" represents the time and work that I had to put in, to earn the money, that it took to pay for the car. How many hours did you have to work, to get the money to pay for your car, be it a Corvette or not?

I have a good customer who drove his new Audi R8 last time he was in just to show me (he new I liked hotrods), he handed me the keys and said take if for a spin, don't worry it's just a car.
To folks like him, maybe so. He doesn't work on it, and if something happens he will go get another one.
Me, I have to save and shop and do as much myself as possible to have something I like - to me it's a h*ll of a lot more than just a car!

Believe it or not, some people who drive cars other than Corvettes worry about theirs and know that you worry about yours.

Think rationally; his car is black. What do door dings look like on black paint?
T H I S B I G , O F C O U R S E !

If they put up a buffer for you, they are doing you a favor. Now he only has one side to worry about and you have none, except from the shopping cart blown in the wind across the lot.

Would you rather he parks BEHIND you so that some rusted 1987 Buick pulls in with a car full of kids who slam doors open?
