I get my ankle pinned up tomorrow - Then I get to set up a new timetable for finishing up my interior. I hope I don't forget stuff. (Please be patient with me.)
Here's a quick pic of my (totaled) XR600R after the rear ending.
3 days of beer and painkillers are at an end. (sigh)

Best of luck with the surgery. I am 46 and started riding dirt bikes when I was 10 ('75 Kawasaki MC1MA). Stopped riding dirt bikes when I was around 17 (RM 250). Been riding my Harley since '93 and picked up an RM 125 around 5 years ago when I was 41. I bought full gear protection and didn't think about how much harder it is to get up from a wreck as you get older. I was going over a pretty big jump at a track down here in some rain and the bike slid out from under me and I landed on my side - broke/displaced 4 ribs, collapsed lung and was in intensive care for 5 days. A couple of years later I had to have a titanium plate put in my cervical spine C5-C7. I loved riding dirt bikes more than anything but can say that I wish I never got back on one. Not sure how old you are but know that as you get older your injuries will be worse if you wreck. Be safe and best of luck with the surgery.

Remember... this (enduro) dirt bike was "retired" to use as an "in town runabout".
(Plate, insurance, brake lights etc...)
I got slammed into from behind by a pickup truck. Dirt injuries I've manage to live with - getting hit by a truck is a whole 'nother deal entirely.
Hi cc,
I hope things go well tomorrow and you're working on the interior again on Wednesday!!
Regards,
Alan
Hi! Alan,
Tomorrow night we get get visitors from AZ with a C5, so depending on heat, and ability, etc etc.. it may see work while they're here - or not.
I just know that I'm very upset... I could see the end in sight until this.
clams, put your claim in and consider it time to move on. I walked away from bikes 11 yrs ago. was tempted by a salesman a couple yrs ago to take a buell firebolt for a test ride. i figured thats all i'd need to be hooked again. with all the texting, cell phones, etc going on, your life is greatly at risk out there. anyways, good luck with the surgery and get well soon. from your buddies on the cf.

Didn't know that you were on the road and rear ended. That really sucks and pisses me off as I have had a few close calls with mr. magoo drivers. Hope you recover quickly.
Probably safer riding a bike down the streets of Bagdad than on I-94 running through the Metro Detroit area but I still do it. I have had some real close calls as well but just can't give up the bikes. Anyway, take care of yourself and hopes for a rapid recovery from your surgery.
Most accidents involving motorcycles are caused by one of two things:
1.) The motorcyclist showing off/driving like a maniac.
2.) A car driver not paying attention.
It is my firm belief that any motorist who is at fault in a motorcycle/car accident, who says "I didn't see him, he came out of nowhere!!!!" should be summarily executed, on the spot, by gunshot to the head.
Now that I have that off my chest, I hope you make a quick and full recovery, and the next time you get on a bike, pretend you are invisible, and watch your 6.
Good luck on the surgery. I am almost 100% from a total hip replacement on 06/20. I had missed 1 day of work in 22 years prior. I am going to start working with my neighbor on my 72 that I bought in Nov and has been in his shop since, interior apart. I am a firefighter so my return time has been longer. They have me off till 11/20, but am going back on 10/02, I miss being there even though I still have 1.5 years of sick leave left. I can't get all my errands done now, so maybe going back to work I can catch up. Thinking about driving the 67 to therapy tomorrow
